THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT However, initially they told me a few weeks to a few months for the form to come back so they could ship it to my dealer then after 3 months went by I asked if they got the form yet and they said probably not for another 3+ months...what gives? I've been through this process before a few times...never took 6+ months PER FORM. Also, I'm having a custom thigh rig made for the gun and thinking of putting a Tamer grip on it. Can anyone speak to these? Are they good to go or what? EDIT: I forgot to mention that mine will be 3+1...that is something Serbu nor Safety Harbor offers!! I love that advantage. I'm anxious to try it with mini-shells even though they get mixed reviews. Thanks! -Emt1581 |

Wait wait wait wait wait.
Let's back up this train a minute. You put in an order from Long Range Precision. They're shipping it to your dealer. Is Long Range Precision an SOT who is manufacturing the firearm? There is no wait for any "forms" in that situation (ie the manufacture of the firearm itself). They manufacture the item, send a F2 to the ATF, and then start the F3 process from them to your dealer. This shouldn't take much more than a few weeks on average. A F3 should not take 6 months. |

The form they sent is so they can send it to my local dealer...they said it's been taking 6mos....are they full of shit? If so, what's the rationale for lying? How do I pursue the issue with the ATF? Last time I did this Dawn Henson was the go to gal that signed off... Thanks -Emt1581 |

If they're an SOT and your dealer is an SOT, it's a F3 transfer.
There should be absolutely no reason that I can think of why a F3 would take 6+ months. |

I ordered a 9mm suppressor that transfered on a form 3 to my dealer. It was submitted to the NFA Branch on 12/16/2011 and the transfer was approved 12/22/2011, it was at my dealer on 1/5/2012. I know form 3 times can vary, but I have never seen anything about them taking six months.

I had a similar experience where I was "waiting on a form 3" for months. Turned out my dealer thought he had ordered the suppressors and even told me that all the paperwork had been completed. Turns out he actually never ordered them. Put me 6 months behind in my purchase process. I'm still not happy about it.
I'm still waiting on a form 3 right now that, if people are being honest about, has been pending for over 5 weeks. After my last dealer experience, I have a hard time believing anything until I mail the form 4 myself. |

After my last dealer experience, I have a hard time believing anything until I mail the form 4 myself. Had a similar situation with gunrunners usa a while back (almost a year ago) and I've still not recieved my can. They forgot to send in the F3, I called 3 times in 3 months and stopped by twice (out of state dealer 4 hours away) Every time I called or stopped by they went to look at the "paperwork" and told me that it was still delayed. Only after I demanded a refund did the truth come out that they did sent in the paperwork in the first place and lied about "checking on it" all the other times IMHO I should have made them refund my money but instead they said that they would give me a "deal" on a second can, I was suspecting something for wholesale. Instead he quoted me the SAME price for a tac-65 that he did months earlier when I bought my SS sparrow can, a slap in the face. At the time transfers were taking 3 months, I could have had the can in 4. They delayed me 3 months and I'm at nearly a year with current wait times, I should finally have the F4 done in about a month. |

Seems a little fish...again...what number do I want to call and who do I want to ask for to get things in gear?
EDIT: Just figured I'd add this...this is the most recent email I have from them from mid-December... "The Form 3 was sent out in the later part on November...the gun had to be special built with a 3+1 before the Form 3 could be submitted. I will let you know just as soon as I receive the approved Form 3 back and process the shipping." Thanks -Emt1581 |

No way form 3 is taking that long, or expected to take that long.
My form 3's come in approved from 7 days to 21 days max. from manufacturer or distributor (I am an FFL/SOT) Do you have the serial number? If not, you won't get too far calling the ATF number, as that is what they are going to ask for. 304-616-4500 NFA Branch Phone # My guess is that the F3 hasn't been submitted, or there is some problem in manufacturing...
If the form 3 was indeed submitted, your receiving dealer should be able to get the serial number from the manufacturer and check on it for you. |

Couldn't I just ask the ATF if an AOW was submitted by said company for the week they said they sent it?? I went through the serial number game before...he woutldn't release it to other customers (their ser. no.).... I'm feeling kind of stuck here. Couldn't the ATF do anything?? As far as my dealer, good enough guy but he said he ran into the same issue with ser. no's with previous customers...again, the guy won't give them out to anyone. What do I do here? Thanks -Emt1581 |

Don't bother calling the ATF yourself to check on a form 3. I tried that and they told me it specifically has to be the dealer that calls for that information. Trust me, I tried for this most recent 5 week or more form 3.

The Receiving dealer can call yes, but they will need the serial number.
Hate to say it, but reluctancy to even give out the serial to your dealer is a huge red flag. (no legitimate reason not to.... unless it was never submitted, because you dealer would make one call and find the truth) I usually have serial numbers within 2 days of the form 3 being submitted (and I'm usually CC'd on the E-fax'ed Form 3 itself) Call your manufacturer and put the pressure on, or take your business elsewhere. (probably not what you want to hear, sorry) |

(he's got my phone number to).... if he says no to me, I suppose I could call the ATF up and forward that response to them. I'd imagine they would not be happy about it. Another idea is that I've already paid for it, plus I have my C&R which means I get to go straight to the ATF with ANY firearms related issues...maybe that might be a route. I mean Brad is nice enough but this process is worrying me... Thanks -Emt1581 |

Also, for those curious the custom sheath I'm having made is an skt but I am having him extend the holster to cover the extra 2" of barrel, sew the end shut and add a thumb snap. He also made one with MALICE clips and it is HIGHLY functional instead of having to play with a buckle AND bungee to get the gun out. -Emt1581 |

Henderson Arms, in NV, did a C3 to C3 approval transfer in less then 24 hours to my dealer in PA. I am now waiting the 6 months plus period for my Colt 6933 to be approved.

Also, the forms deadlines you're putting out there are WAY whacked. Methinks you should've called Serbu or Safety Harbor first. Something's odd here. Mike |

I wanted to update everyone.
I did get the serial number today. He said it should be any day now and also said that since numerous states have now allowed NFA items that it's increased wait times significantly due to volume. He also said that on March 1st or somewhere around there a CLEO sign off will no longer be needed. Is any of this true? Either way at least now I can get further info. Thanks -Emt1581 |
