So I noticed that Numrich has the following items for sale--

http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/1432100.htm  (RPG)

http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/1365810.htm  (Grenade)

...and I was wondering about buying these items to make a display piece.

Don't need (or want) it to fire, don't want to register it as a DD, just want it
to look neat.

So, will the items above work?  (I've read in various threads that a "demilled"
RPG launcher has a rod welded in place to prevent insertion of a rocket... )

Could the inert rocket be partially sawed, such that it could just be inserted
into the front of the launcher?  (again, for display purposes)

Thanks,
SD

Yes that is possible. They will usually have a rod welded through the firing pin hole, which is directly above the hammer in the grip. If you wanted to put it on the wall you could take a dummy rocket and cut off everything that would be behind the firing pin hole.  That would allow a dummy rocket to fit into it

There is also a 40mm hole cut into tube under heat shields. They make great display pieces.

OK, wow, looks like you've already done exactly what I want to do...  your setup
definitely looks cool!

I gather that the heat shield covers the 40 MM hole, which actually is perfect
for just a display piece.

I also noticed the more "reddish" heat shields for sale also-- are these worth acquiring?

And while I'm at it, would these be worth the trouble of doing a Form 1 on?  (though I know
of no source of RPG grenades... )

Thanks for the input,
SD

Most heat shields are made of wood, some are made of Bakelite. Not all are interchangeable.

While I'm sure reactivation of these are possible, without rockets, I just don't see any point.

I did a form 1 DD on mine.  I haven't done anything to the hole but I removed the welded rod and retapped the firing pin hole.  I can now legally use it to shoot the RPG-7 training device that shoots a 7.62x39 bullet but drops the velocity so it has the same drop as a real RPG round.  These were used to train RPG gunners.
