What is the reasoning?

What about all those old brass shells from naval guns that you see out there?

I used to buy brass to commercially reload
They told me reloading 5.56 you can only make ammo that is common
40mm is to easy to reload with HE components making a controlled product illegally

hopped in, as I used to own a 37mm and had considered getting in to the 40mm game.

Discovered we have a site staff member that I've never heard of.

I go to that site if I need a good cry. I hate mutilation when it involves weapons, and ammo. GROG

Depends on the type. If you want metal, they do cost more than the nylon casings. GROG

I had not surfed that site before posting the link - it is fascinating as well as depressing. Many of the items that require destruction could be lawfully used by our community of lawful NFA owners. But no.

It is telling that certain groups tried to require that all fired cases to be mutilated - including 5.56mm.

That move was thwarted (for now). Food for thought.
