Griffin Armament Spartan 3 for a threadmount, Recce 5 for a QD. Great weights and suppression on both. Make sure you look at total system weight to include flash hiders if you're going for lightweight.

I remember reading reports about inaccurate weights listed for sig so you may want to research that.

Take a look at the TBAC ultra 5. Only 7.6oz in direct thread. Or the ultra 7 @ 9.7oz.

I bought a Saker asr 556k with direct thread module for the same reason, it will live on my 10.3" barreled ar. I believe it's about 14.6 oz with the asr module so it should be a bit lighter with that dt module.

I could totally see myself pin & welding  a griffin spartan to a short 5.56 barrel. There are ways to get it off without destroying the can...

Spartan 3 on a 10.5" barrel.  In fact, I think I'm going to get on that one myself.  See you in about a year.

Omega is 11oz w Ti endcaps, and sounds great on 556... it lives on my 11.5 sbr

Not the "latest and greatest" but Trek-T is a good option.

Yep.  That's what's on my "go-to" AR.  Just stays on a 10.5".  Super light and more than quiet enough.

When is the new Trek coming out? I've only seen a couple pics and a short article. I'm gonna pin and weld either the spartan 3 or new trek on my 10.5. Would like to see the new trek before spending money on the spartan

According to Gemtech: "New design allows for easy pinning to 11" or longer barrels to meet non-SBR overall length requirements."

The New Patrolman is coming next, and be more on par with the weight of the older TREK-Ts 10oz.

Interesting...
Will it have a steel collar to make it easier to pin/weld like the new Trek or do I need to order some high-alloy titanium rod to pin with?

Sig did get a little creative with their weights. The SRD556 actually weights 15.1 ounces.

I'm happy with an older regular trek, so a trek-t should be good to go for you.

According to Gemtech: "New design allows for easy pinning to 11" or longer barrels to meet non-SBR overall length requirements."
From the Gemtech website:

"The TREK is a compact and rugged threadmount suppressor for 5.56MM rifles and is suitable for full auto and shorter barrel (10.3" or greater) carbines. The TREK is made of rugged 17-4 stainless steel, with non-welded construction. New design allows for easy pinning to 11" or longer barrels to meet non-SBR overall length requirements."

Can you elaborate on how the TREK is constructed? Additive manufacturing? Baffles mechanically locked or pinned in place?

Or is it constructed like pistol silencers with loose baffles held in place with a threaded endcap? I assume this would facilitate servicing by Gemtech.

ETA: Meant to quote Techstaff

I have the Omega and Spartan 3.

Both cans are on my guns that get used most.

Of the two, if I could get anything I wanted--I'd choose the Omega.

If budget was a high consideration I'd go Spartan 3.

Why?  The Omega just sounds great and gives way more options.  You also get two QD mounts with it.

Another Trek T vote if you can find one. It's an awesome can, I don't even notice it on the end of my rifles it's so light.

I plan on picking up a Spartan 3 once the new version is out form GA. Haven't decided if I'm going to pin or SBR. Either way it will be a 11.5 that will be permanently suppressed. Direct thread will be lighter, more accurate ( all things equal), and with proper torque or pinning it won't move.  For 100% suppressed builds direct thread ftw. And my vote is Griffin Armament SPARTAN 3, weight, suppression, price, direct thread w/ pin option.
