I have a recce 5 mod 3 making a prison break soon.

Now I need to get on the ball for mounts for all my guns.

Wasn't either the hammer comp or muzzle break rumored to help relieve wear on the blast baffle?

The hammer comp has 2 sacrificial baffles and is the best at preventing wear. I'm in the same boat and have been waiting on them to come into stock for months.

I'd like hammer comps and mini flash hinders but none are available.

this is the minimalist mount included with the Recce 5 after only about 500 rounds (10.3") Going to be keeping an eye on how it holds up.

What type of ammo? Firing schedule?
Is that rust or just carbon/copper build up on the break?

Isn't the thinner part supposed to be topside?

Well dang

I hate to get the other mounts only to change them out in 6 months.

That does look like it is installed upside down.

Yup.  The fatter part, where the logo is, goes on the downside.

XM193, fire schedule: mostly mags of 6 rounds alternating between targets shooting a 1,2,3 cadence. So the fire rate is high given I typically shoot at least 75-100 rounds in a 30-45 minutes period. Like I said it is a 10.3"

Actually never noticed the orientation as and I typically do oil it but pulled it off and take the pic.

I've got two of the new Taper Mount Flash Comps coming - 1 for 7.62x39 and 1 for my 18' recce-ish rifle.

https://www.griffinarmament.com/Taper-Mount-Flash-Comp-p/tmfc.htm

We'll see how they work.

Mine has way more on it than that and still looks new.

Hell, I ran it hard today and even dirty it looks unused to that pic.

Any of the muzzle devices with their own baffles will take the brunt of the wear from the blast baffle.

If it's always shot with the suppressor, it won't matter.

Of course. But why bother timing it perfectly upside down, instead of perfectly sideways in that case?

Another reason I've wanted to get the Hammer Comps, I've heard people say the minimalist brake is obnoxious and you'll be that guy at the range. Of course as long as you're suppressed it doesn't matter.

I just shot mine unsuppressed for the first time yesterday.

It's loud, but not nearly as bad as my saker brake. (Both sbr's)

Then tested out the blast shield. Definitely reduced then concussion, and went back to suppressed.

I can't see the hammer comp being less obnoxious then the minimalist break.

Griffin said the hammer comp is "several dB louder than an A2" I just assumed it would be more like a BCM brake. Regardless I need 2 more mounts and I'd like at least one to be a hammer comp for my SBR.

I'm in the same boat. I'd like a hammer comp on my SBR but may put a Ti minimalist break on it so I can run both my alpha and Optimus (in the mid config) on it.

They also have a 1/2x28 version of the Paladin 2 port break coming soon.

I'm not sure if it's still a thing but I seem to recall Griffin having an Arf coupon code for their site as well...

That's what I thought but I couldn't find one, anyway their free shipping only applies to orders over 99.00 so a coupon would have knocked me down under that threshold anyway. Regardless it's my fault, I checked a bunch of dealers first and nobody had them in stock but I neglected to check Hansohn. The'll be my first stop next time.
