That's weird...I thought they had a fail safe in place for that...my Remington 700 has the MB on it and my friends 556 Specwar does not mount.

Luckily the front cap of the 556 can has an exit diameter of .310", so I should be good even with .308 bullets.

Umm.. The baffle most likely is not !

I think the Saker's also share the same mounts. So you have to be vigilant when shooting with family/friends that don't know. I know that AAC and Surefire have different mounts that won't allow say a 556 can on a 762 mount.

All the ASR mounts are interchangeable for the specwar, omega and saker (w/ASR mount)

Don't forget the Hybrid as well. You MUST pay attention when using the ASR mounts. But the hole idea is to have cans interchangeable.
It is nice being able to use all my 30 cal cans on my AR's. I do have one 556 Saker and keep a close eye on it.

Can one use a .270 cal with a 556 can?

No.

5.56=.223

.270>.223. A .270 is almost 1/16" larger in diameter than a .223. Don't do it.

I've had a Specwar762 for a bit and just picked up the 556 version.  I have already installed corresponding SiCo muzzle devices (FHs and brakes) on various .223 and .308 guns just running the 762 can on the smaller calibers.  Last night I found out that I can screw the new .223 can down onto the SiCo 762 brakes!  Apparently only the Trifecta flash hiders have different lengths and the brakes are the same length irrespective of bore size.

Prudence is mandated!

What you just discovered was one of the reasons I bought a Specwar762.  It could be used on both my .30 caliber rifles, and on 5.56 rifles since the mounts are the same in 1/2x28 and 5/8-24.

Sig uses different sizes for this reason. I agree a 2nd look to verify is always s good idea.

My HVT-QM will mount on my 5.56 AR, but my G5 won't mount on my M1A.  Gemtech quickmounts.  Nice safety feature.

I painted the locking ring on my specwar 556 & K red to distinguish it from my 762. Not for me but for the others I shoot with

Shocker. You need to make sure the equipment is proper for the application? Who woulda thunk?

I can slide the same magazine into any of my ARs, regardless of the upper. So yes, I make sure I'm not loading a mag full of 50 Beowulf when the upper is 5.56. No reason that's any different for a suppressor.

For the foreseeable future I'm only buying 7.62 cans so I don't have to think about what could happen with a moment's carelessness. YMCV

This is why i kind of changed last minute with getting the 5.56k specwar along with the use of my 762 saker.  the saker pretty much lives on my 308 but I have my 7.5" ar and G36C with a saker mount.  my 10.5 and 16" ar i have the specwar mount.  This way i know i wouldnt accidentally put  the specwar on the 7.5.
