View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: The more I think about it, putting it back on my Glock is probably the way to go, and just keep it as a backup silencer in case of baffle strike to the Omega 9K. This is what I will be doing with my YHM Cobra. Fitted with a Gemtech 3-Lug, it's currently my backup for my Octane 9, which is backup for my MK9K. So between my MP5A2, and MP5K, I have a backup for each, should either my MK9K or in-jail Omega 9K be out of service. Does the Gemtech adaptor just screw right into the YHM Cobra? |

Thanks for the thread and information. I have read through all pages and the website of TPM but don't recall seeing a mention of the different types of bullets one can use in any HK/TPM/Misc maker MP5 system. I saw several comments regarding Bullet weight and velocities though. Is TPM building their various models to allow reliable feeding of any type of Bullet or must one stick with the FMJ? Thanks again. View Quote You can shoot anything you want though it, but there are issues with different types. I've shot everything from some super light 9mm that went supersonic through my SD, to some 147 grain plated lead subsonic (that worked just fine). I shot them over my chronograph, and they were going about 950fps. The issue with copper plated lead is that it may 'shave' some lead off as the projectile passes the ports in the barrel. You'll want to keep an eye on the inside of your suppressor, and clean the weapon more often. 147 grain plated subs are my standard 9mm load, and I'm glad they run in my SD... but I still buy jacketed projectiles and/or bullets for shooting through it most of the time. Keep in mind, hollowpoints are not designed to work at subsonic speeds, and probably wouldn't expand. I wouldn't waste my money on HP in an SD. |

Ah good catch. 124s! I was more interested in noting that the 147 use isn't appropriate.

Well.... I've been contemplating a mp5sd for about a year now. Have a form 4 pending for a Reverse Stretch from a maker whose apparently not too popular in this thread, but came heavily recommended to me by people I know and trust. But alas the siren song of the SD was too strong and this thread (which I've been lurking in) pushed me over the edge. So I bought a TPM SD today. I made sure I told them this thread was a deciding factor. Thanks for all the knowledge and input guys.

No conjugal visits for me unless I make the drive from Houston. I saw a few references earlier in the thread to the B&T APC 9. I agree it's definitely not an mp5, but vastly superior to the UMP. I can't wait for my form1 to be approved.

All you guys suck. I was doing fine until I came across this thread and of course I had to read all 27 pages. I'm definitely getting the bug for an SD now. I have been looking around seeing what I could part with. I THINK I'm going to try to hold off for a little while until some of the 41F submissions get approved. If I do that then I don't have to sell anything and I'll have time to save. I think it will work lol.

Yep, Octane .45 with a Griffin 3-lug. Omega 9K is in jail and will take a lot of length and weight off of it. |

I emailed Matt about ammo usage in the various models they are turning out and I believe his comments align with what everyone has been saying here. Use 124 grain at NATO velocities and you won't have any issues. Use other types and weights and you may have to do some tuning of the rollers but will probably be fine from a reliability standpoint.
Matt also said accuracy is not that of a sniper rifle but much better than other sub guns. |

Matt also said accuracy is not that of a sniper rifle but much better than other sub guns. View Quote I'll speak to the accuracy statement. Depends on your quality of gun. I've only heard good things about Matt's stuff. Dave Getz MP5 is 10 shots in a silver dollar at 50y without problems. Black market MP5K is 10 shots in a quarter at 50y. I had a lot of reliability problems with BMP, but after I got that group I fought with it for over a year to get it running right. It went back to them 3 different times and I had to pay shipping both ways. It now runs like a top in semi and full (registered sear). Coharie Arms MP5SD is paper plate at 50. I picked it up complete for $1500 with suppressor and everything some years back (2 stamp, SBR/Suppressor, long wait). First foray into the HK clones. Now that I know what I know, I'm glad I have it. Will have it re barreled eventually to correct the accuracy issues. |
|
I have copies of my Form 3. Hopefully they will clear/ship next week.
Silencer ends in 08 and SBR ends in 44. Anyone a blood-brother? |

As I drool over this thread and save my money, I've been looking at accessories and how best to mount a light.
Anyone know anything about this? I just saw it on VG6 Precision's Facebook but there's no follow up info. ETA Pic fixed ETA2 found a S Korean blog post (text is in korean as well) with some more pics. I guess it fits on their ROK K7 SMG too. Looks like it just clamps onto the can as opposed to mounting to the handguard. http://m.blog.naver.com/jungyany/220395650965 |

That set up looks like it would maybe overheat your gear, and definitely burn the cable for the tape switch. I've seen other B&T cans that offer this feature. Not sure the engineers figured that one out. But I haven't run this gear, so I'm just giving my uninformed impression.
