I know there aren't going to be as many quiet shotguns out there, but Pistols and Rifles got their own thread. 14" 870 with 8" Rod kit in the Salvo.

Please keep discussion limited and just post pics.  We can have another thread for shotgun suppressor discussion.

I thought SilencerCo recommended not going shorter than 18 inches for the Salvo in 12 gauge?
Am I wrong?

Regardless, looks great!

Is it hearing safe?

The 12-12.5" 870 SBSs would look perfect with a short configuration Salvo on the end.

They do look cool but the reality is they are loud on a SBS in a 6" configuration.

I think it's 12" with 2 3/4" shells and 14" with 3" shells. But don't quote me.

12ga is the only version out at the moment.

Anyone shooting slugs out of shorter barrels with a Salvo?

I want to do a 12" and be able to run Brenneke 2 3/4" slugs out of it, I know they say it's rated for it, just curious if anyone is doing it yet.

I've shot a few Federal LE 2 3/4" Tru-Ball Low Recoil out of mine without issue.

From a topic I started in the Capital Armory Forum-

I have a 12.5" 870 SBS and shoot 2 3/4" Low Recoil OO Buck mostly. Occasional 2 3/4" Low Recoil Tru-Ball. Which length kit would you recommend for my use?

Thanks

ETA I'm looking for the best compromise between length and db reduction.

Personally, I see 12" as just absolute performance.  10 for when performance matters, but you need a bit shorter size.   8" would be more my hunting type load, where you want to take the edge off but you won't be shooting much.   6" does some, but it doesn't really make it nearly as quiet.

6" purely defense where you need a small overall package.
8" hunting, little loud but a few shots should be fine.
10" performance but a little size shaved off. (range, shooting clays, competition, etc)
12" is "impress everyone" size.

I would probably run 10" for just normal every day use, but 8" if I was out bird hunting.   For low recoil 2 3/4" buck, either 8 or 10 and base it off if you want better suppression or if size is super important.

I hope the front of that cylinder is sealed really well or else that would be very unpleasant on the face. Unless it operates differently than a traditional revolver?

Similar, a seal collar comes in from the front as the trigger is pulled.
Trigger will be long and heavy though, no way around that.

If you include the cylinder in the length like you would with a shotgun, I could see it being a 6in salvo on a "10in" barrel. for a ~16in barrel/can combo in a ~22in overall package.
Would still be loud, but would take the edge off.

Good point. The perspective is deceiving.

Price and trigger weight are what (theoretically) would prevent me purchasing that scattergun.

I am in absolute love with this shotgun. I just picked up a couple Police 870's. One 18" parked and the other is 20" blued. I wanna do this exact build with one, but keep it parked I am thinking. That wood stock is amazing! I need to try and get a wood stock to dye.

Sadly I depleted my suppressor fund with these two purchases ($515 total) so back to saving! Going get me a Salvo soon hopefully!

That's quite the compliment. Thanks.

Honestly, I think we all get locked into aluminum and plastic in our AR builds. It's refreshing to deal with steel and wood.

And I feel your pain. It took me six months to save for the Salvo.  The wait just makes it feel that much better when it rolls in.
