Looking to put together a nice suppressed pistol rig in .45acp or 9mm, I'm open to either at this point. I've got a lot of .45 ammo for my 1911s, but I do plan on getting into 9mm.

I'm thinking something full-size, or almost full size, threaded factory barrel, double stack mag, rail, and preferably factory night sights.

I like some of the Sigs, but also considering HK, FNX, or CZ offerings.

For the can, I'm thinking an Osprey. Still debating between .45 and 9mm even if the pistol is 9mm.

Anything to avoid or consider? Any handguns suppress better than the others?

ETA: budget would be around $1k. I'll pay a little more if something is worth the extra dollars.

The quietest combo I have heard is the sig 226 and the aac tirant 9.

1k on host of 1k on host and can combo?

Vote 226 and even a 45 can over so you can add it to your 1911.

$1k + or -  on host. I've been shopping Ospreys locally, that will be separate.

I went with the osprey 9 myself and took delivery a month and a half ago or so. I will say it really feels good on my M&P9 as far as weight and balance. I'd say an M&P, Sig, HK are all good options. I'm thinking of adding a USP9 into the mix for it.

For 45 I'm going with a Octane instead(it is on order). My train of thought for that though was that I could use it on a carbine if Sig ever releases the MPX as well as on my 45's.

I went P226 w/TiRant 9mm. P220 w/TiRant 45.

I love my M&P 9L CORE with octane 9.

ETA: doesn't include threaded barrel or night sights though.

I went with HK45 and an AAC TiRant.

Well, after a little more research, I'm thinking a TiRant on my MC Operator would be the ticket. Nothing else in .45 really has much more capacity anyway.

Then I can pick out a higher capacity 9mm host later.

How well do those suppress?

I have a FNP-45 and it suppresses great.  The best thing is it doesn't spit back at me like my M&P .45 does.  The M&P 9mm also is pretty darn quiet and I have been using an Osprey with these.

P226 w/ Tirant 9 was going to be my combo.  However, I took advantage of the HK rebate and got a USP 9c and threw on a threaded barrel instead.  Still want a P226 eventually, so that would be my recommendation.

If you look around in the archive via a google domain search the 226 has been touted to be "quietest" 9mm host.

I already voted but figured I would point.
I will edit later with the 4-5 threads this has been commented on before.

Basically sources say 2-3 db diff between a 226 and a glock 17 in favor of sig.
Glock 19/26 have feeding issues some of the time. (Not everyone though). G34 is fine though.
Hk'a have a high crowd fav more so for the 45 USP over 9mm.
M&p seems to be another common for the 9mm.
Also well out of your budget sig x5 tactical is an amazing host.

If anyone hates AR15.com's search feature just use REGEX searches via google advanced search.
