So, I just got my specwar 762 on Monday (sent forms 4 in May) and WOW, I'm hooked. Sounds amazing on subsonic 300blk and is awesome on supersonic 300blk and 556.  I've never shot suppressed before this week.

So, in my excitement, I purchased a spectre ii.  Seems like a good can, I can use it on .22lr or some other calibers if I want.  After shooting suppressed I don't know if I can go back :)

Now, the hard part.  I need a host.

Currently, my only rimfire guns are a Ruger sr-22p(non-threaded), and a cmmg .22lr conversion kit for my ARs.

I've found some threaded barrels for sale for the sr22 (forgot the manufacturer...twintech tactical maybe?) that also has adapters, but they don't have the "o ring" engagement surface (at least that's what it looks like).  Costs about $130+adapter.  Does anyone know if the silencerco adapter for a walther p22 will fit the twintech barrel? Does the o ring engagement actually make a difference?

Now, for the rifles.  I have the conversion kit, but I don't have an upper that I'm willing to take off my muzzle device to thread the can on.  I'm not sure if using a conversion is a good idea, either.
I'm considering building a dedicated upper for my SBR, maybe a 4.5" or something else around 12" or less.  Should I look for a dedicated .22lr barrel, or look for a 556 barrel that I can just stick my conversion kit on? I know if need a spacer for the threads, not a big deal.
If I get a dedicated .22lr upper, will my cmmg mags work with it?

Or am I better off buying a new pistol host altogether? A new rifle host? Suggestions?

Great choice for a rimfire can.

I'd look for a cmmg 22 upper new or used, and cut the barrel to length you want, build up a SBR lower for it and still use your current cmmg mags.  I did the same with a tactical solutions upper and black dog mags I already had.  The AR 22/SBR is really a hoot.

I have a Ruger 22/45 Lite and a Savage Mark II FV-SR for my Spectre II and they both make great hosts.  The bolt action option is very quiet and the FV-SR version comes threaded from the factory, ready to suppress.

Get a Ruger 10/22 with the factory threaded barrel. Even if you get one without the factory threaded barrel there are tons of aftermarket threaded barrels out there to choose from. Mine is pretty quiet with the subsonics.

Awesome, great looking guns!

Anyone have experience using a .22lr suppressor on an ar15 with a conversion kit?

Most of the time I shoot my 22lr can it is a on a 4" AR-15, I build with a 4" Taccom barrel.  Under 4.5" typically keeps bulk pack ammo subsonic.

I SBR'd my M&P15-22...barrel cut down to 4.25 inches by ADCO. Just waiting for my SpectreII to come home.

I'll echo the 4.5" SBR idea.
My dedicated CMMG upper with Sparrow sounds amazing shooting 40gr Mini-Mags.
FWIW, it does not cycle properly with American Eagle bulk pack. Don't have much else to test right now...

Did you get them to cut it to SiCo o-ring specs?

You'll love the combo.

I'd recommend any of the S&W M&P 22LR firearms:

(PSA has the fullsize M&P22 for $259.99 right now and free shipping for orders >$100)

The GSG 1911-22 is also a popular host.

I did sir, I remember when you were in the process of getting it cut down and mocked it up with a fake can. I even cut my rail with a dremel. Came out great, I JUST NEED MY DAMN CAN!!!!!!

I was in the same boat. Had a non threaded sr22. Thought about a spectre 2, bought a savage svsr and then commited on the spectre. My next purchases were ruger 22/45 light, sig 1911-22, gsg mp5pk that I m gonna sbr, then a threaded barrel for my sr22.  That covers me for an accurate long arm 22 host, a 1911 host. A plinker 22 host, a polymer semi auto 22 host, and a fun 22 semi auto sbr 22 host. So far I'm every happy.

Wow, awesome! How's the reliability on the 4.5" .22's?  That looks awesome.

I think I'll start with the threaded barrel for the sr22 and build a cmmg barreled upper for my sbr.  I don't have the money to buy an m&p22 and SBR it, using my sbr'd lower would be good enough.

What barrel did you get for the SR22?

My SR22 came threaded from factory. I believe you can get one from Twin Tech Tactical

Never had a hiccup. Sure is fun, especially with a couple 50rd drums (assuming you can find ammo to fill them up):

I had no idea that I can use my cmmg conversion bolt on a dedicated upper, I just need to buy the new collar/barrel and it will work just fine.

Seems like the cheapest route for now :). That and it has run 100% so far! I'll pick up a threaded barrel for the sr22 also.  Eventually I'll add some more .22's but there are other guns higher on the list.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Ever think about a 10/22 SBR?

4.5" barrel runs great.  4" barrel not so much.

I have this for my Spectre II:

And this:

Both are big fun and keep bulk ammo subsonic. However, there is something so amazingly fun about shooting subsonic ammo out of the quietest of the quiet. And that is this:
