[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What are the best suppressors for a 300 AAC Blackout build?

Ok, so I just bought a new 300 AAC Blackout upper. I mainly got it for hunting, but I've been entertaining the idea of throwing a suppressor on it for fun at the range. What are some great makes and models of silencers that will minimize noise as much as possible? Size, weight, etc. don't really matter to me as much. Ok, I lied. Weight does matter a little, but if we're talking about 2 oz of difference, I don't care. I'd like to keep the price somewhat low... Maybe around a grand?

Also, before anyone goes off about what silencers really sound like let me state that I have seen pleanntyy of movies, so I know exactly how quiet they make guns.

Kidding, kidding. I have done a lot of research on the actual amounts of suppression that most silencers provide.

I am very satisfied with the Gemtech Sandstorm that I have mounted to my .308 OBR. It made deer hunting this year quite enjoyable for my young son and I.

Mystic, but I wanted a can that would cover 300 blk and 9mm.

I went with the popular choice, the AAC 762-SDN-6. It is as durable a can as you can get and sounds great on 300 BLK as well as 5.56 (though bigger and heavier than a dedicated 5.56 can).

I've got lots of videos pairing my SDN-6 with my 8" 300 BLK SBR and my 16" AAC Handi Rifle on my YouTube channel.

If I ever get around to getting a 300 blackout upper, I'd like to go with a 8" barrel and a Surefire 7.62 Mini...

I have used both my YHM Phantom SS and my .45 Osprey with my .300BLK piston upper, and they both work very well. The Phantom is a little more quiet, but the Osprey does do a very credible job, too. The loudest sound from my rifle is the bolt slapping home on both setups.

I am using a AAC Cyclone K on my 9" Blackout. Sounds fantastic with subs and really good with standard rounds. I still want an N6 though...

The AAC 7.62-SDN-6 was designed for the 300BLK. I have found it works great with the 300BLK. It is quiet with the subs can handle full auto with the supers. Is shorter than the standard .308 silencer but can still be used on the .308.

Iam using the YHM SS Phantom (Already owned it when I got the Blackout ) if I were strting over I would go YHM Titanium just to lose the weight.

SDN-6 vote here. Have a 8.2" Noveske bbl 300blk upper. My Osprey works well enough for subs but I'd like to shoot supers and needed a rifle can. Just waiting on ATF.

I was about to get a SDN-6 but will wait for Silencer Co to come out with a compatible model. Seems like the Saker is going to be awesome and can't afford to buy two.

although my bowers cac9 seems quieter. and I only care to run subs in my blackout.

Any chance you can post a picture or two of your setup, suppressed and unsuppressed? Interested in that exact setup, but having trouble tracking down the upper

I'm loving the YHM 762 Phantom Ti on mine.
Just got an Encore with a MGM 300 BLK barrel--threaded, of course.
If all goes right, I'll sight it in tonight at the indoor range and take a last weekend Turkey with it tomorrow.
Life could be good.
And very quiet

Ordered the barrel and NSR from Rainier Arms. SDN6 is still in can jail, but here it is with my Osprey9.

Actually, the 762SDN-6 is an improvement on the AAC 762 SD - and both are designed to withstand 7.62x51mm NATO, as well as the higher pressure .308 Winchester (and if the barrel is 24" or more, they can probably withstand 300 Winchester Magnum too).

Thus, these cans are sort of "overkill" for supersonic 300BLK. They are definitely overkill for sub-sonic 300BLK which runs only about 21,000 PSI and uses only about 10 grns of powder typically.

Both of these fine AAC cans will, however, "work" with 300 BLK.
