THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT 1. 14.5" middy with AAC Blackout flash hider mount 2. 11.5" with AAC muzzle brake (full brake) Hard to tell if the sacrificial blast baffles in the brake will be better than having 3 extra inches of barrel for a more complete burn. What do you guys think? |

i have both upper that you have listed in the same configuration sharing a 762SD. have probably fired around 3500 on the 11.5 and 1500 on the 14.5, so i cannot blame one or the other for errosion, but my brake does show a tremendous amount of wear. i am going to be switching the 14.5 to a brakeout soon just so i can sleep a little better at night. i do not plan on buying another can for a very long time.
no real info for you here, so i hope someone smart jumps in. fatkid |

Go with the shorter barrel. 14.5 isn't exactly getting your money worth on the SBR tax stamp, and the break will help prolong baffle wear. At most you'll have to buy a new break a few years down the road. In all honesty, you'll probably have a baffle strike from a bad round long before you'll wear out that can.

CMS Thanks for the input guys. I already have both uppers, just trying to figure out which one I will shoot suppressed the most. I may swap the 14.5 to a brakeout eventually, but I prefer the blackout as it helps a lot with keeping my PVS14 from cutting out too much when I do night shooting. |

I have several SBRs with the can and I find that the 12" is the one I shoot the most with it. I agree with the folks who say put it on your short one. Erosion does get worse the shorter you go, but if you are staying above 10" - I think you'll be ok.

CMS The 14.5" isn't an SBR if you pin the brake. I have one with a Surefire setup, but I also just ordered a 12.5" SBR with a Surefire flash-hider. Less concussion/flash with the can off = more important to me than getting 25K rounds instead of 15K rounds through the can. I also bought another suppressor to sit in the safe for when THAT can dies. |

But it'll take a lot longer than 25K rounds to do it. You'll probably be at least on your 3rd bolt & barrel by the time that happens |
