Gemtech does a great job, instead of an adapter the barrel is bored out & a threaded sleeve installed. Using this technique you have rifling all the way to the end of the barrel.
I bought my barrel from hi desert dog. Rather than relate my 7 paragraph horror story - don't get a high desert dog barrel. As I work through my gun project list I'll eventually get around to doing my 21A right - with a Gemtech sleeved barrel. ETA: Originally it was bought as a novelty item & for CCW suppressed. Often times when I take new young shooters out the GSG 1911's, Sig Mosquito, and P22's get left on the table while the 21A gets a good work out. |

I've read enough about High Desert Dog to stay away from them. I'm looking at other options...if you don't mind me asking what does Gemtech charge for the bore-out/barrel sleve option? I may not have the opportunity to call them for a few days.

I bought a Thompson Machine wasp specifically for the 21A. I've been quite happy with it - it is meant as a wet suppressor. I normally get 2-3 magazines of quiet before adding more wire pulling gel. |

I'll have to read about it a bit more. I'm liking with work Accurate Ordnance does...looks great and will not require boring out the barrel...although I have no doubts Gemtech would do it correctly. The price difference isn't that much so we'll see.

I just like the idea of a little extra rifling.
If you go that direction I'd be interested in a fit/finish/range report. |

Mark K. at AO is top notch and a pleasure to work with. I'd email and see what kind of wait time you'd be looking at from each and go from there. |

I sent mine to Gemtech.
Very happy. Rather than create a thread adapter, they install an extended barrel sleeve. So really, you're getting a new bore AND threading for that price.
Seems to be most reliable with Aguila SSS. The shorter case seems to extract and eject more reliably. No baffle strike issues (been through a brick or so of the SSS, several bricks of normal .22LR). |

My local smith and good friend did mine and it has worked very well with all 3 of my .22 cans.

I bought one awhile back from a local pawn shop that had been the shop owner's suppressor host. He had had a local 'smith do the barrel by doing the same thing Gem-Tech does. That part worked great. Unfortunately, it wasn't too long after I bought it that the frame cracked at the barrel hinge. I tried getting hold of Beretta to see what I could do about getting it replaced, but didn't get a response from them until more than a year later. (Even then, the only response was a questionairre, asking how I would rate my experience with Beretta customer service. Suffice to say I doubt they liked my response.) I ended up disassembling the entire gun and selling the threaded barrel, mags, grips and assorted parts here on the EE.
FYI, I used a YHM Mite on it and the previous owner also used a pretty lightweight aluminum can. Apparently, the frequent opening with the added weight on the end of the barrel caused stress that resulted in a cracked frame, as far as I can tell. |

meh... these are not the most durable guns so I personally avoid putting any more money into it. Unless you really want to be all special agent about it.

I bought my gun already threaded from X Caliber Firearms:
Beretta Bobcat 21a Silencer Ready Suppessor used is a Huntertown Arms "B" micro suppressor. Huntertown Arms "B" It's 1.085" OD x 3.75" long and uses 3 "K" baffles. I shot it dry using CCI Subsonic and CCI CB Long. Overall I'm happy with it. Fun little toy that gets grins from anybody I show it to. Very 007. ![]() |
