I have two Armalites (AR10A4 & M15A4SS)and two Bushmasters (AK Shorty A2 Carbine & V Match 16" Carbine). All are quality firearms but Armalite gets the nod for customer service.

Either one would be a good choice. The best advice I can give you is to buy an A3(flattop) so you don't limit your sighting options. You can always get a A2 carry handle for a A3 but putting a scope on a A2 handle is no good without a delta cheekpiece and,in my opinion, not as comfortable as a scoped flattop. I also have a Colt SP1 and it is fun to shoot but open sights over 100yds takes training & lots of practice to be an accurate shooter. I find it much better shooting with a wide field of veiw scope for longer range accuracy.
