I bought an old COLT SP-1 AR15 last summer.
I talked him down to $1000 with tax. That's about $935+tax  !
I think I got a hell of a deal.

changing the stock is easy.
remove the buffer & spring.
unscrew the top buttplate screw, this will let you take off the stock.
unscrew the buffer tube.
Be carefull not to loose the little springloaded buffer retainer.
The USMC tech manual is a good place to learn takedown & parts replacement.

The price sounds really high to me.
However, maybe that is going market rate in your area?

Derek45... is that a .312" pushpin in your SP1 front pivot pin area?

I have seen those at the shows... do you like it?  I have concerns about it walking out, since there is no detent other than the small ball in the pushpin itself...

Do you like it/recommend it?  I want a tight fight too... and was concerned about thats as well....

The price sounds a little high, www.prebanarms.com charges about that price for their NIB preban AR-15's. There are better prices to be found though. Good luck with your new gun, I wish I could afford a preban.

Sorry, but you got hosed.  Even for a pre-ban NIB that price is very high.
