I've had this Inland for probably 20 years. Great little gun, of course, although I don't shoot it as much as I'd like to. Here it is as purchased: the stock, I came to learn, is some aftermarket addition; no .gov markings at all, no proof marks, manufacturer code, nothing.


Not bad but the stock always bugged me. I've had sitting around, for almost as long as I've had the Carbine, an early Type 1 Inland stock with the I-cut for the oiler. Didn't have a hand guard to match, though, so I never really thought about putting it on the gun. Then recently I thought "Hey...stain". So, a couple coats of Minwax walnut later, it's close enough. Should be a 2-rivet hand guard instead of 4, but I think this is much better than before.




Darker wood, slimmer, just better.

It's marked IO, so that's Overton for Inland, yeah.  IO and the P proof mark are the only markings, no rebuild arsenal stamp or proof mark.
