A friend is leaving his job soon and offered me a Ruger SR 762 for $700. Currently wears a Magpul PRS stock and comes with the original BUIS and 5 20rnd PMAG's. Wants $700 for it. I figure I'll sell the PRS and be in it for $500. Not going to touch a 7.62 AR for that price anywhere else. Any reason not to purchase it? I understand their handguard is basically the only option there. Any other downside to this rifle (at that price)?

You do know that the SR762 sells new for about $1700, right? And you're asking if it's worth it to buy one for less than half that amount?
Let me put it this way; would you buy a Glock 19 for $200? |

I've seen them sell for $1400 new. I know it's a deal compared to the retail price... but a deal on a disappointing rifle isn't a deal...hence why I asked about them. If it's a decent rifle I'm willing to give it a shot. Going to go pick it up tomorrow.

Purchased today. Came with the AFG and 140 rnds of federal 7.56x51 as well.
