Things change. There is now a PCC classification in USPSA and Steel Challenge. Popularity is growing rapidly.

I would not mind one in 9mm but the MSRP is $300-400 too high for my taste. Even the prices I see on GB are a couple hundred high. I can build a AR for that price.

Low to mid $600's isn't bad for an all-aluminum gun.

The AR market is ultra saturated. You'll find no other rifle approaching that capability per dollar ratio

Their quality of manufacture is pretty damn good.

Horrible triggers-- slick concept, but I just hated the trigger. Had one in .40, not very accurate. To each their own!

Coworker got one a few weeks and a few of fired it. It was the 9mm. It was a pretty good shooter.

For not much more, you can do an AR9 from Palmetto State and have an AR platform.

Serious question.

What do the previous mentioned platforms do (aside from some possibly having a threaded barrel (which can be done at almost any local shop) that this gun does not.

This actually looks like a very streamlined version, minus all the window dressing, type of carbine. Given that it is marketed as a "survival" rifle, I would extrapolate that to mean a lightweight arm that a person could stow away in a pack or bag, until needed.

It would be interesting to do some side by side comparisons.

The lighter weight of the ASR is appealing, especially if you SBR'd it.

They do come in 10mm versions, not many PCCs do that.

I've got a few PCCs, closest to this is my JRC in .45acp. The JRC is a VERY accurate carbine for the .45acp round, but it's no featherweight. My Kel Tec Sub2k is almost half it's weight.

I'd take a chance on one of these in 10mm, early ones had issues that they seemed to have resolved.

Does this take a standard AR trigger like the Just Rights? Most PCC triggers are pretty poor so any basic budget AR single stage will be better than the average PCC trigger.

Actually glad they just have a plain barrel with no front sight, the front sight on my High Point 4595 is OK at 25 yards but I removed mine and just run a reflex sight which works better.

Reminds me of a centerfire version of the AR-7
