The Glock 20 is fantastic, however have they released the longslide yet? If so that's where I'd probably go. However a used 1006 would be a great grab as well. Ever think of a revolver? I LOVE my 610 and I know that they ran a new production run recently, I think they were right around a grand though.

Look at the 1066 for the shorter barrel. |

Witness. Then if you like, you can pick up a 40 barrel, or a .357 Sig barrel, or a 9x25 barrel, or a 22LR top end.
You could also change out the top end for 45ACP, 9mm, or 38 Super. Or you could put a shorty compact top end on it, longslide, etc, etc. EAA has all the parts to configure it any way you like it. Tony |

As others have mentioned the Tanfoglio custom class pistols is what I would go for. The Stock, Limited, or Match model variants. I would skip the base line Witness models.

I've got a gen 4 G20 and a G40 MOS slide with a Vortex Venom rds. Great for woods carry, great for hunting, great for big fun. Underwood Extreme Penetrators makes it unhealthy for bears or bullet proof glass.

Not that you can't kaboom a 1006, but they are the most robust 10mm pistols out there, except for maybe the STI Perfect Ten (which is way out of your price range.) If you're going to get a 1006, do it now. They're becoming quite valued, and the prices are going up. |
