The newer 805's are 1/2x28 threaded correct?

Trying to decide, depending on the answer to that question, on whether I want to cut the barrel down to 14 and pin an ACC flash hider on it to reduce the overall length.

Unfortunately the threads were done earlier today before I read your reply, sorry about that. I think right now we're going with either a Specwar K orrrrr I'm not sure what. I'm trying to decide if we wanna go with a direct thread short can.

That reminds me. We need some new buis too. The factory CZ are way too low imo.

That's a 2015 pistol version, came with the same low sights as the Scorpion. 2016 and forward have CZ flip up sights which are much better on the Bren.
You could add almost any flip up BUIS set that will work on a AR flat top upper.

New production Bren rifles with 16" barrels have 1/2x28 threads.

I do not know if new production Bren pistols use 1/2x28, or if they still use the overly long M14x1 LH threads that the older PS1's had. Most of the ones floating around in gun shops and on the secondary market have the metric threads.

Yes, if it has a 2016 date code or later, it *should* be 1/2-28.

It's alright, I should've gotten on ARFcom earlier. Will ask Tim over on the Military Arms Channel, though I don't know if his Bren pistol has the 14mm threads.

I like the low-set CZ sights, but I only shot the Bren with the original non-collapsible folding stock, and the pistol version with a brace and T1 on it.

Personally, I like the Griffin M4SD2 and Sig SRD556, myself. Been looking at the SRD since it can be pinned onto a short barrel, so if the HPA passes, it'd make for a really sweet zero-stamp SBR setup. I loved the Griffin I got to play with, it was sweet as hell, but I'm used to the KAC NT4, so take that with a grain of salt.

The first gen pistol had the 14x1 threads, the newer gen has 1/2x28. With a little ingenuity you can work with the 14x1 threads if the suppressor you're going to use has a muzzle device(Griffin).

In case anyone was wondering I finally got my 805 Bren back today. They replaced the barrel which had to be ordered from the Czech republic. Looks like the cost of barrels is $350 from the paperwork. Happy that it's threaded 1/2x28 instead of M14x1 LH but not very happy that it has a different serial number than my pistol. Oh well. Also note that the gas regulator can't be removed with a 51t blackout installed. Have to grind some teeth so that it can be easily removed (won't be an issue with mounting my SDN-6)  Also installed my retro magwel. ready to go shooting.

How can you tell if the carbine has the 1/2x28 or M14x1 barrel thread, short of taking the comp off?  Even with that, it would help to know before trying to wrench the old one off as one has LH threads and the other RH threads.  are there any visual cues to look for?

Where's the date code to tell if it's a 2016 manufacture?

TIA.

All carbines are 1/2x28. Only 2015 PS1 pistols were M14x1LH. Easy way to tell is if it has a jam nut (M14x1) or crush washer (1/2x28)

I contacted the warranty department, told them about the ring I saw in the barrel, they sent a RMA and I mailed it in.  I got the price of the barrel off the paperwork that was returned with my bren, said barrel cost was $350.

So I was bored and don't like the way the 805 grip looks.  I ordered a spare grip frame and already had a magpul AK grip. After some cutting/fitting and epoxy, I made a magpul 805 grip. Feels and looks alot better in my opinion. Using jb weld to fill in the spaces and will blend it all in after it cures. What do you think?

I don't know that I agree that it looks better (at least at this stage), but it certainly seems like it could be more comfortable.

When I first saw the pic, I hadn't read that you had a spare grip frame and I thought "that's an aggressive mod if it doesn't turn out."

That's brave!

Does make you wonder why they didn't do an adjustable grip on a mortise/tenon like they did with the Scorpion?
Cool project and for only 35 bucks for the grip pack, you're not putting a ton of money on the table. Post a pic when you get it all cleaned up.

after finishing the Ak magpul grip it felt small still. so I used my other grip frame (got another one on order) and made an AR MIAD grip fit.  here are some pics, epoxy is still drying in the last pic thats why it looks shiny.  the larger grip fits my hand a lot better now.

Done. Very happy the way it turned out.

I'm not sure how the Scorpion grip works, but CZ sells a larger back piece for the standard lower/grip assembly.

I like the Protac rail mount 1 or Surefire M600AA

I'd mount it just behind the front sight on the top rail in a mount offset towards 3 O'clock, then run the tape switch over the top to a 1913 rail at 9 O'clock with zip ties to pin down any excess cordage.

Either that, or I'd mount it to the 3 O'clock 1913 rail with an offset mount keeping the light higher up, and run a tape switch to a VFG. Again, zip ties for any excess cordage.

Wow. $450, straight from the factory, imported into the US and made 922r compliant.

And yet it took Shrubmaster how long to make barrels available for the ACR, at $600 per? No 922r issues, no importing costs, no 6 O'clock rail, nitride instead of chrome, but still $150 more than the Bren's barrels?

Shrubmaster can eat a dick.

Or are there headspace concerns after a swap?

Always a good idea to check headspace when switching bolts or barrels.

Go/No-Go gauges are cheap. Limbs on the other hand, can cost an arm and a leg to replace.

Thank you, thank you, I'm here till Thursday.

Barrels are easy to remove. Take out the 6 screws, 3 in each side and pull the assembly out the front. Will be snug. Headspace is a non-issue. The star chamber is machined into the barrel. All barrels and bolts are machined to the same spec so it's all drop in.

Machined into the barrel?  These don't have a barrel extension like an AR15 that is pressed on?
Link Posted: 4/3/2017 8:17:59 PM EDT

Yes the "barrel extension" is a machined part of the barrel. Its all one piece machined out of a barrel blank.

A AR15 barrel extension is threaded and torqued onto a barrel.

Give you an idea.

The Bren definitely has a BHO, just not a release.  Seems difficult to imagine how they could make it also release easily without some redesign or mod to the receiver.
