I saw they are selling for $1150 but they are OOS. Thinking about picking one up when they come back in stock.

The cheaper Century rifles are better than Century-average.

If it were me, I'd buy one in 5.56x45 with the mag adapter. They will be more collectible in the future, and no proprietary magazines to worry about.

Wow! What the hell happened with these rifles??  I owned several years ago, bought it for 700.00.  It had the d-technic marking on t receiver.  Are these the same rifles, or are the Czechpoint vz58's different?

My VZ was extremely well-made.  Wish I would've kept it, was a well balanced rifle.

I haven't handled the Century version of the 58, which is the vz08, but I believe they are substantially cheaper (ala most Century made shit).

Yes, the D-Technic and the Czechpoint are one in the same.  I have a D-Technic that I purchased last year for $820 and it runs like a top.  It eats any old cheap 7.62 I feed it and the fit and finish are top notch.

You can probably find one used for less if you keep an eye out.  I sold one recently for $600.  I had to keep lowering the price because it wasn't moving.  I have another that I purchased NIB for $750 from a shop that also had it sitting for a while.

As an owner of a Century VZ2008 I can say it's a great design, anyone will tell you it's lighter and has less recoil than an AK. Mine shoots MUCH better than my WASR @ 100 yards.
I like CZ's quality, I've owned several CZ handguns and still have a CZ97B. And considering what a top tier AK is going for these days I don't think it's priced out of the market.

Yep this is true. CZ briefly used to import the vz58 which was made by Czech Small Arms. Now only Czechpoint brings them in.

I had one of the Century guns with a folding stock. It appeared to be well made and had a good finish on it.

The things I didn't like about it.......proprietary magazines. Every time you shot it, you got a slap in the face from the buttstock. The folding mechanism on the stock was very hard to operate.

The Czech point rifles you don't have to worry about the bolt gremlin like the century vz2008s. I have a century and a czechpoint and I think the czechpoint is a much better made rifle. The vz 58 is a fun rifle but don't plan on suppressing it because it does not work. Been there and tried that.

I saw the real deal rifles in Afghanistan. I think it was the Czechs pulling ECP Guard duty that had them. They had red dots on them.

Cool VZ58 action - Where was that filmed?  Detroit?

The VZ58 is a great weapon.  Its not as ergonomic as an AR15, but a really decent gun.

Century guns do not have a tabbed carrier and can fail but is easily fixed by getting the tabbed original carrier or welding in a tab.  That being said  My Century VZ2008 has handled thousands of rounds and has never jammed or failed in anyway that I can remember and I never put in the tabbed carrier.

They are all going up as very few new Czech made guns coming in and Century appears done with the line.  Century guns seem to go more than $600 on a regular basis - a year ago PSA had them for $299!

I loved that series.  Too bad i only lasted three seasons.  I always thought the tech advisors did a pretty good job on that series.

And yes, I love my VZ58

That was actually pretty cool. I don't think I've ever seen a show where the main characters are running around with VZ 58s for any length of time.

When I was working at TGI, we got a bunch of them from Czech Point to sell. They always sold quickly. I wanted to pick one at employee pricing, but never got around to it. We had thousands of mags that we imported as surplus from Czechoslovakia.
Fired them periodically, I liked them much more than a standard AK.

the czechpoint / d-technic version is more premium than the century vz2008 kit build, more than just the coated finish.  at one point I know they used thermal expansion and contraction to press oversized barrels into the undersized receivers for better fit.  I presume its still done today, but am not sure.  Regardless, you won't get that with the century build.  theoretically you get better-than-AK accuracy with the thermal press, but I don't know if anyone has done a controlled test to quantify it.
