If you ever had to pull the trigger in protection of you and yours, what would you use? Has to be a gun you actually own. Not just the reliability of the model itself, but also the one that's most comfortable in your hands, you shoot the best, and know the best when the stress degrades your learning and fine motor skills.
My rifle is my FAL para carbine. I can strip it in the dark, have the best mags marked and can aim it with my eyes closed. I have a home-built AR SBR in 300Blk and a JP15, but I would still reach for the FAL 1st. Pistol is my XD40. I want to like my XD45 and FN45 better, but the XD40 just falls into my hands better. What say you? |

M&P15 ORC and SIG 229 in 40
2nd. STG58 with 14.5"bbl and SIG229 in 9mm |
|
my 3 gun choices... G34 and RRA 16" mid with TA31F... a lot of confidence with both

CZ75. I have shot it so much I know where it points for combat accuracy out to 40 yards. For rifles I would have to say my FTC Garand. It has never malfunctioned and is my favorite rifle to shoot.
I have alot of other choices but those are guaranteed to work protecting me and mine |

Spikes tactical calico jack with rainier arms match grade barrel, very reliable rifle. Pistol would be walther p99.

Home built AR15 and G19.
I'll trust my new sig after I run some rounds through it. |

Home built 1911 and modified AR-15.
20141202_114006 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr They are reliable, dependable, and very accurate. They're also among my first centerfire guns. |
|
my custom SBR and my Beretta M9 (or my XD45, either pistol, really)
|
|
ANY of my hand built ARs or 1911s
They all function or they be GONE |
|
rifle?my yugo M92 PAP SBR. It just works with any ammo.
pistol? CZ 82, but my BUL Storm (CZ 75 clone) may pass it if it continues to work flawlessly. These also just feel right when shooting. |

Just about any gun will fire a few rounds and be accurate enough for some self defense scenario. The real trick is what would you take to WAR?
LMT MRP type for rifle, and as a 'pistol.' For the real question of an actual sidearm... M&P 40 compact or M&P Shield 9. |

The two center fire semi-autos in my bedroom are the SIG 556R and the CZ P09 9MM.
At night; or given some time (10 to 20 seconds) to prepare, those are the two guns. Most of the time, on the road, day time hours out in the garage or yard, I have a CZ P07 in .40 S&W on me. The 556R has never blipped. The P09 and P07 have never blipped. |

BCM 14.5 mid and glock 17. BCM is fairly new but is 100% glock 17 is a 8 year old gen 3 which has been about 99% with 6k rounds through it.

Well, all I carried on 3 different deployments was a M16A2, one had the M203 which I hated. one plain jain with an aimpoint, and the other had rails and aimpoint with surefire light.
Soo guess what I built/assembled when I got out of the Army, a BCM govt. profile flat top A2 style rifle, with plain handguards (fuck quad rail) and detachable carry handle. Eventually i'll get a red dot for it. As far as handgun, never had to use one in self defense. But I CCW a Glock 30s, so I guess that means I trust my life to it. Though I don't shoot it nearly as accurately as my 1911 Range Officer, the lighter weight and added capacity is what caused the switch for CCW, as well as no thumb safety. Sooo so long as I never have to try to defend myself with accurate shots out to 25yards, I'm happy. God forbid whatever senario that would happen, but I would really miss the 1911 then as I can still drill a target all day at that range with it. But in all reality if a threat is that far away, I can likely take cover and either close the gap or get more distance between the threat and myself. P.S. I also CCW a Ruger LCP and large CRKT M16 tanto style knife when I'm at work. Never be unarmed. |

I trust the weapon in my hand as long as it's aimed at my adversary and cycling OK.

I love my AR15 build, but to answer your question regarding defense of self and family:
1. Glock G22 full size 40 S&W with Trijicon tritium night sights, loaded with Barnes TAC-X to confront surprise and get me to #2. 2. 12 gauge tactical Remington 1100 shotgun with rifle sights, red dot sight, tape switch activated weapon light, extended mag tube and side saddle shell holder, both stuffed full of Federal Premium Flite Control 9 pellet 00 buckshot. |

glock 19 a 10.5" lmt sbr are what stay beside the bed along with electronic ear pro
That said it wouldn't bother me to grab anything i own....... I don't keep guns that don't really run hard / proven. |
|
Which you trust the most?
Of the rifles I own I would pick my Sig 516 CMMG piston AR POF AR15 DSA OSW (Para FAL) Izhmash AK47 SLR 95 (AK47) If I had to pick one small cal rifle it would be my Sig516 If I had to pick one large cal rifle it would be my DSA OSW But it would really depend on the scenario. Of the Pistols I own I would pick my Glock 17 |

My collection is still rather small. So far my 16" middy 5.56 build and my Glock 17, although my FNX-45 has been 100% as well but I'm not of a 9 than .45 guy.

LWRC IC
Glock 19 Shotgun is a toss up - Rem 870 or Moss 590 - Both are bulletproof and i can run/load day or night |
|
Home built 16" AR and XD40 sub. I want to say differently but can't as yet.
|

At the moment? my Noveske mid length and GP-100 revolver.
My current CCW though is a Steyr M9 and my bedside gun is a home build 14.5 carbine on a Seekins lower. I use the Steyr because it is light and has excellent capacity and I use the home build because it has a flash hider not a brake like the Noveske. That thing launches double fireballs in daylight. I have never shot it indoors, much less at night but I imagine it might look a bit like this. |
