Chopped G17 - Page 1

Just wrapped up a G17/19 conversion. Grippier, palm swelled grip for my ape hands, more concealable, same sight radius and velocity.

As odd as the "swirled icing" look is, I really like the lines and proportions of the gun overall- looks good with the shorter grip and lack of finger bumps on the front of the grip.

Very nice Glock! Did you do the work yourself?
If not, may I ask who did?

It kind of reminds me, at least in concept, of a custom 1911 I saw once.
It was an Colt Officer's Model frame adapted to a 5" barrel and slide. I can't
remember who made that one off the top of my head, though.

Anyway, congratulations on a really nice, custom pistol.
There's nothing like having a gun built that's to your own specs!

I placed the texture over stippling that I had grown tired of. The grip feels very G30ish to me which is a perfect circumference. The length of pull places rounds on target even if I slap the trigger.

That grip doesn't look very grippy, but otherwise I like it. I like the rounded trigger guard.

Looks like that rubber dipit, for tool handles etc. I did a butt pad cut out of a rubber snowplow, to get a longer LOP, then dipped it and the original plastic piece for a uniform look.

Marine-Tex with black dye. Hard and durable. Unlike stippling. I can remove stippling with a finger nail. Texture applied with the fat end of chop stick at 30 min cure. I ended up hitting a few high points with dremel sanding drum followed by polish drum.

I suspect that this is what Robar uses. They tease out the putty more then sand the points down.

Marine-Tex is available at any Boaters World. Use a scant amount of black dye. If it's slow to cure, dip in warm water. Masked lines are easy. No ultrasonic cleaning--will cause delamination.
