After my last 2 weekends of working, I'll be sitting on 2 checks worth $2200,

I'm interested in purchasing a SCAR17.

However, My current safe is full, with a few rifles being stored outside it.

Should I buy the SCAR and finance the safe, or put the money towards the safe and hold off on SCAR? Safe is probably 2X the amount of the SCAR,

I would say safe, but with a caveat. Buying a bigger, or an additional safe always winds up costing a lot of money, down the road. When you have that extra capacity, you find a way of filling it.

I will be devil's advocate and say the SCAR. I doubt that after the next shooting/hysteria there will be a run on safes. If you want a gun, buy it now because you never know what tomorrow may bring.

ETA: Make sure you buy mags too...

Safe, because tomorrow may bring a thief that steals the guns sitting outside your safe.

Maybe you can re-organize things to fit more in the safe, or buy a cheaper one and get both?

Buy the SCAR and move a cheaper rifle out of the safe.  It's pretty easy to hide one rifle.

That's easy, SCAR

What kind of safe are you looking to get? Are you going to sell your current safe(to off-set costs of new one) or are you going to keep it? The biggest thing for me would be security, but if you are able to sell the one safe and have enough money to finance with no problem, get what you want.

You can buy used safes cheap. I got a big tl30 for $2500

Get the scar and a CavArms lower. And Gisselle trigger.

I am always in the same boat. I save for a safe and spend it on a gun.

Or you could just get a Scar and use it.

Get a gun locker and put cheaper rifles in it.  Buy the scar now.

Get both.

No, seriously, buy some rifle rods which will allow a ton more space in your current safe. Spend the rest of that hard earned $$$ on the SCAR.

Bought it.

Need to figure out how to fund the safe.

Build a safe out of an old Coke machine or water heater. Hide in plain sight.
Some local guy is selling Coke machine safes for $300 delivered.
Make the coin mechanism look removed.

Or try the rifle rod solution.
Thats what I use in my TL30.

This, finding a Scar at a reasonable price,  move some of the lower cost rifles to a job box.

Can you break down some of the rifles to fit them on a shelf to save room on the bottom, i.e. an AR not used often?  Also if you don't have them, buy sack ups  so you can gently pack the rifles in a little tighter and they will be better protected from moisture win-win.

The safe would be the next priority if I were you - ymmv. A friend of mine just lost all of his excess guns to theft because he kept getting the next gun instead of the new safe. Stats are good you won't get hit but would suck if your number comes up.

The SCAR is awesome. Did you get a FDE or the less accurate black one?

Top shelf holds the SBR, already pretty full. Yes, got the FDE SCAR.

I shot a scar 16 for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the most pleasant firearms experiences I have ever had.

That being said, I would get the safe.

You chose.... wisely...

Now slap a can on that sucker and laugh at all of the ARFCOMers saying "safe" because of SCAR-hate.

That is assuming you got a 17.

Otherwise, you probably should have gotten the safe...

Yes, I got a 17.

I have seriously been debating the safe/can dilemma before you mentioned it
