Regarding the parts kit price, you'd have to contact Kermit to verify, but he once quoted me a range of $55-$126, depending on which parts you wanted.  Looking at that pic, it has everything except a gas dial, so I'd venture to say around $100 +/-.  Also, that pic has the old style BHO, FYI.

How much is an XCR spare parts kit, and what does it include? I am falling in love with my XCR all over again.

I will have to see if i can find the receipt as I can't remember what i paid for the spare parts kits.
I just remember asking Kermit to throw one together for each gun, he did, & i paid for them with the guns.
I'll look at them later as im cleaning them today out of GP. They never really need it, they dont get dirty for a long while.

I found my receipt but it was not itemized, just one total for all of it i sent to Kermit.

excuse my ignorance, but are those basically all the parts that could/do break under normal circumstances on an XCR? I suppose even $125 isn't bad if the parts are good for 10k+ rounds....

I recently got a parts kit from Kermit.  Contents were:

Spring Clip Guide (1)
Recoil Buffer (1)
Ejector (1) with (2) each of washers and screws
Main Pin and clip (1)
Hammer Axis Pin and Pivot Cotter Pin (1)
Trigger Axis Pin (1)
Trigger Spring (1)
Hammer Spring (1)
Hammer spring heavy (1) for hard primers on Russian ammo
Firing Pin (1)
Firing Pin Spring (1)
Firing Pin Retaining roll pin (1)
Extractor T-slot cone (Detent) (1)
Extractor T-slot spring (1)

Total was around $90.

Only other part that would be good is the gas plug, just in case you launch it by accident.  I already had a spare; BTDT.

I ran into some issues with my XCR-L the other day using Tula, I was on setting 2 I believe, and the problem was I ran about 14 mags as fast as I could while making accurate hits on target and reloading as fast as I could. No issues through that long string of fire at all. The issue came when I set the rifle down (It was snowing at the time to give an idea of temperature) and shot my pistol for a few minutes. I then went and fired a few rounds and got FTE malfunctions that stuck so hard I had to mortar the weapon damned hard to clear it. That happened twice, and once I got heated up again I had no issues. Next time I went out and was shooting a lot in the cold, I just used brass cased. I'll save the Tula for the summer time.

They are my go to 5.56's.
I started with the M16A1 in 1985 & have very little love for it.
To me, the XCR right out of the box used the best of the 3 most popular platforms and none of their
flaws. Those platforms being the M16, AK47, & FAL.

Though many do, I don't use steel case ammo, so I can't comment on how it runs in the XCR.
Mainly because I reload so when I buy new, its brass.
Never any problems with my reloads.

Mine did this same exact thing all the time. Sent it back and Robinson said the bolt was out of spec and replaced it. It was 100% flawless for the next 1,500 rounds and then on the 1 round of a carbine class it jamed up rock solid and I had to slam it on its stock as hard as I could to clear it. It was  fine after that for the rest of the class and 500 rounds. I was shooting Wolf 55gr.

I just blame the rapid heating and carbon build up from steel cased ammo, and then the rapid cooling. I don't think my bolt is out of spec, and it works without a hitch otherwise. I'm really not worried about it, my AR's would have done the same thing in those conditions.

I cant say i blame you for not loving it, im the same way, i didnt have to deal with it way back then but i still am not much for it. Im hoping they come out with the .300aac blackout barrels for the xcr. I dont really shoot enough to make reloading worth while at the moment but having .300blk and .223 to reload would sure make that sweet.

I live in NY, the barrel is 14.5 inches plus a welded brake. I tales with Terra awhile ago, and I believe she indicated installing the new gas block would require destroying the brake in the process. I'm not sure it is worth it. I don't really have an issue with the trigger as is, what's the benefit of upgrading it?

Tell me about it, try the shit ball mags we had too, with the black followers! The green ones were the so called improvement.
And its so dirty. And way to easy for it to stop running, for a bunch of reasons.
The 300 in the XCR would really be something! Thats for sure.

I have both a 5.56 and 7.62x39.  When I got the 7.62, C-Products was already gone.  Someone on the xcrforum found ASC and I got 6 mags. So far they've been flawless. There is one issue...the hard primers on the steel stuff can result in light primer strikes. RA has a heavier spring that fixes the issue, but I'm told it changes the sweet trigger a bit. I've been running brass so far, haven't gotten around to ordering a parts kit from Kermit with a heavy spring.

I may have said it earlier in this thread, but I had some beginner shooters out and a couple of them wanted to try my buddies AK, but didn't like the recoil. One fired just a couple shots before setting it down. I gave them my XCR with the 7.62 kit on and didn't tell them it was the same round. They liked shooting it. Couldn't believe it was the same caliber when I told them after they finished.

ETA some porn (with 5.56 kit):

ETA some more porn (with 7.62 kit...don't ask about the ducks...it was a "contest"):

I recently changed the stock to the ACR enhanced stock...don't have an updated pic taken yet.

ETA one more thing:  I have no noticeable POI shift between 5.56 and 7.62 kits.  I kept meaning to bench it and video it to show exactly how little shift there is, but I wouldn't expect that a lot of kits would be so close.  I think I just happened to get lucky.

I have 2 XCRs.  On one, the impact point moves 1 1/2" at 50 yd when changing calibers.  The other's only been shot in 5.56.  On one, 5.56 brass case ammo uses gas setting "1"; for steel case factory ammo it uses "3".  In 7.62x39 it uses "2".  The other (only used in 5.56) uses "S" for 5.56 brass; it needs "1" for factory steel case ammo.  On either one, if not enough gas, I have failures to hold open the action after the mag is empty.  Have not tried Yugo surplus; have used 7.62x39 Wolf, Monarch, & Golden Tiger.

Note: reloaded 5.56 steel case ammo uses same gas setting as brass 5.56; it's the FACTORY steel case 5.56 that needs a higher gas setting.

When I first installed the 7.62x39 kit with its heavier hammer spring, it made my trigger pull heavier, which I didn't like.  I put back the 5.56 hammer spring and the trigger pull returned to what I liked.  I've never had a failure to ignite 7.62x39 primers with the 5.56 hammer spring in place.

Total rounds fired:  XCR #1 795rds 5.56 and 1310rds 7.62x39       XCR #2 1987rds 5.56

GAT has a used one that is supposedly unfired for $1299. However, it appeared to be a 18.6 heavy barrel and I don't know how many of the upgrades it had other than the new gas block.

If you know someone who can do the machining I am up for using one of my uppers to try this.

Total Silence is the first name to come to mind. Tom posts here as WA-Tom.

The slicked upper I drew up could more accurately be described as almost slick or convertible.
My drawing calls for the rails to be machined off leaving longitudinal dove tail grooves . The hand guard fits these.
Sections of picatinny rail and filler blank are also machined to fit the dovetails to replace what was milled away giving ability to switch from hand guard to rails or partial rails and back.

Sections of picatinny rail and filler blank are also machined to fit the dovetails to replace what was milled away giving ability to switch from hand guard to rails or partial rails and back.

Why not just mill it and set it up to use current pic rail sections like those from magpul or troy?

Someone could do just that.

I like my cake but want to eat it too. I like rails and hand guards that's why I drew up a convertible system that allows for switching back and forth and various combination's of the two.

For re-anodizing I would just send to U.S. Anodizing, they do great work.

Well gosh, maybe if i have some spare cash laying around I'll pick one up and be the first to try this...

GAT has a used one that is supposedly unfired for $1299. However, it appeared to be a 18.6 heavy barrel and I don't know how many of the upgrades it had other than the new gas block.

If you know someone who can do the machining I am up for using one of my uppers to try this.

Has to be a light barrel if I am getting it!

Boy, it is interesting to see the relatively positive reaction over here compared to another forum where I posted about this!  Loaded Drum we'll have to get together so I can take a closer look at your XCR and we can see just how removing the rails would best be accomplished.

The heavy barrel can be fluted to match the weight of the light barrel

Kampfeld does mighty nice work as does ADCO.
