I know about Birchwood touch up paint but I have a pretty big area that needs painting. I know I could Cerakote it but since its mine I don't want to spend that much money. I have had it for years so it is pretty scratched up. It is a Spikes Matte finish and yes I could just leave it alone. I eventually want to hand it down to my Son.

You could try something like hi-temp barbeque spray paint. It won't look great but it'll be covered, and it'll be cheap. For that matter, plain old flat black Krylon, Even cheaper.
