It looks like you had some silver/gray shit on your hands and wiped it all over the gun.

Doesn't look "battle worn" to me.

But...if you like it.

That's exactly what I did.

I think he was being a smart ass by saying it doesn't look "battle worn", it just looks like you had silver shit all over your hands and wiped it all over the rifle, which he knew is exactly what you did.

I still wouldn't do it to my guns, but I can appreciate the look it created.

Is that what it came down to? Lol.

Nice build but I don't get the logic in coating the outside of a rifle with a lubricant just to get a particular look. If you want a worn looking rifle use it, it'll wear soon enough.

Very nice rifle, I might try to do that myself.   Now on your adjustable setup, I had been wondering if running an adjustable gas block, where it bleeds off the majority of the gas and then an adjustable carrier that bleeds off the rest, that you could really stretch out the recoil impulse.  Have you noticed any significant difference from that set up?

Shoots like a 22LR. So yes. If you check my carrier/buffer/spring setup you'll see that it's a very light recoil impulse.

You don't even have to use it.  Just take some Scotchbrite to it.  When I was in boot camp, our rifles were pretty rough looking.  It wasn't because they were coated with anything, it was because they were cleaned too much.

One time after qualification, we were tasked with cleaning extra rifles because the armory roof sprung a leak and the rifles were getting rusty.  I took some Scotchbrite with me to speed the process, but I quickly abandoned that idea because it was removing a tremendous amount of the black finish in addition to the rust.  And I was barely rubbing it.  I figured the armorers would catch on and possibly charge me with unauthorized cleaning methods when they issued me a black rifle, and I turned in a nearly silver rifle an hour later.

I think he was being a smart ass by saying it doesn't look "battle worn", it just looks like you had silver shit all over your hands and wiped it all over the rifle, which he knew is exactly what you did.

I still wouldn't do it to my guns, but I can appreciate the look it created.

So if I say what I think about it I'm being a smart ass?

Does it look
"battle worn" to you? Have you ever seen one so you would know the
difference?

Yeah. I served 4 years.

However the "battleworn" look typically doesn't look like a battle worn weapon. Battle worn weapons look like shit and are no way physically appealing.
