Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Prep for Painting

I am about to rattle can my rifle and I am looking for some advice on metal prep.

What is everyone using and what technique.

I already have it taped off. Should I untape it before I spray it with brake cleaner or whatever I should use?

I was thinking about blasting it with non chlorinated brake cleaner and then just blow if off with compressed air and paint away.

When i did mine I taped off the glass on the Eotech and put a foamy in the muzzle.  I then sprayed the whole thing down with brake cleaner and used compressed air to dry it.  Then sprayed away.

The paint came off all the contact points pretty quickly after a few range trips but I kinda dig the way it looks.
