I just ordered a Ruger LCP in their raspberry color due to it being $40 cheaper than the black frame.
Searching for a picture, it looks like the raspberry color is a lot closer to pink than I expected

What's my best (cheap) option for darkening the frame to black or something more bearable than
than red (maybe brown or OD)?  Would Rit Dye work?  Or would I need to use something out of a
rattle can?

Also, searching Ruger's site, they have an offer for a free extra mag and free ammo with the
purchase of an LCP before November 30.  I ordered it through Bud's lay-away program and won't
have it paid for prior to 11/30.  Shucks.

yeah, try Rit dye, the one you mix yourself, not the water based BS.  If that fails, Krylon baby!

This is where Raf the Rit Dye Expert needs to step in  Would using some shade of green just turn it
brown?  If so, it's better than the color it is now.  If I could get something close to OD, that would be
optimal.

Go with Rit dye. It should work just fine for you.  Be sure to add a good amount of green dye to the black.  Black Rit dye tends to come out purple, green will counter this.  I would expect a polymer that starts with a purple hue would show purple after black.

Thanks for the advice.  Maybe I'll start with just green to see if it turns into a shade of brown I can live with, and if not I'll go with black and green.

I got the pistol from my FFL yesterday; definitely more of a dark pink than a dark red

That'd probably end up costing more than the $40 savings that compelled me to get this instead of a black on in the first place

Looks nice, but I can't justify the cost versus less than $10 worth of Rit Dye...

Agreed. I've just never tried to dye anything that's black before and my buddy did my work in trade so there was no out of pocket.

Lucky.  I wish I could trade some useless-to-me stuff to get some gear Cerakoted...

Yeah, I wouldn't have dropped the cash to do it unless it was a great gun that I personally wore out and wanted to keep. This G19 was a police trade-in.
