Dipped the rifle in a pattern many companies do this for rifles bows and misc hunting accessories.

this is what he posted. "There you go Joel. High heat is the key to keeping it from cracking and flaking off. If you are going to spend all that time to refinish your firearm then take your time to do it right. Prep and a good primer is a must if you are not going to use a self priming firearm finish like Aluamhyde ll or Duracoat. Post some pics once you are done. I am in the middle of doing over my 7.62x39 build. I used Aluamhyde ll Desert Tan as the primer coat, then topped it with Humbrol Matte Enamel and sealed it with Alumahyde ll Matte Clear. The enamel paint held up to high heat so I went ahead with the seal coat. It's a lot darker than in the pictures. Had a light behind me and took the pics with my phone. This is before I put the seal coat on it. It's like hydrographics but with paint instead of the film."

Too expensive and time consuming

Just rattle can it. Why spend so much effort and money on something meant to wear?

To each his own I suppose.

Kind of reminds me of when I was young and melted a box of crayons on the radiator mom was not happy

or a bunch of plastic Army men were sacrificed

It's called swirling.
It's been around a while, haven't seen too many guns done with it though.

I can dig it. I am all for something different.

Looks pretty good. Over on 65Grendel they have some nice examples too.

This one was posted by Zapp and it looks awesome. If I was to refinish mine I would love for it to be similar. Although I would probably go with different greens (more like CADPAT) being down in FL.
