I have an SBS 870 build that will have wood furniture. I think I've decided to mount my light on the wood forend.

I've looked through Brownells and Amazon for a short piece of aluminum rail with mounting hardware with no luck. I'll probably epoxy as well.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks

And yes, I realize that I probably asked in the wrong forum.

I have seen the rail sections you need. Look for the sections designed for the bottom of ar15 hand guards. Then you will have to be creative for the mounting. I would recommend some looking at sling swivel hardware as a way to mount. This is just off the top of my head idea and it obviously isn't the best method of doing it. But then again maybe it is. If you were wanting to do it the right way you would replace the stock/forend.

The lacquer on the forend is curing. Shouldn't be long before I drill/epoxy/bolt. I'll update with pics as soon as I get to work.

How'd it work out?

I wasn't able to make time for the SBS project yet. Hopefully soon.

Considering that those panels are curved, I'd consider bedding it with some JB weld or whatnot.  Just remember a release agent

Sorry for the bad pic. Easy. Drilled for screws and bedded with JB weld. Solid

Did you have to do any wood removal other than the drilling? Anything to make it sit more flush? I guess you just chose really short screws that don't stick out far enough to effect cycling the weapon?

Just drilled and "tapped" for short screws. Filled the holes and used a bead of JB.

The rail was a section used as an add on for stock M4 hand guards. So the curve visit perfectly with the wood.

I attempted this right now, but the rail section I have does not sit flush.

It might be worth buying a new rail section that has the curve:

100-002-0813 RAIL FOR CUSTOMIZABLE FOREARM
Brownells Part no

At that price I'll just get the Magpul forend, but thanks.

17 bucks? Guess it all depends on whether or not you really want the wood look or not. Doesn't seem that expensive.
