Never know when you might need to blend into a party store.

Except for the barrel... that rifle was completely pieced together from my spare parts bin. Purposely went full retard on the paint job.

Please go to the range wearing a blue camo wife beater and matching blue camo pants.  Have pics taken and return here with them.

Here's my first time painting ANYTHING. My brother-in-law and I tried to do a multicam pattern by following some YouTube videos and using a cutting machine with a stencil taken from an internet picture. We didn't quite get the multicam look, but I like it and think I'll keep it!

Looks great. Nice breakup.

Would be hard to focus on the camo job out in the field. Should blend in nicely

Upper and stock got a new coat of "Multicam-esque" paint (the lower has been painted for years) in honor of 4-16:

Paint, for those who are interested is Rustoleum Camouflage Sand, Earth Brown, and Dark Green, and Krylon Camouflage Light Green.

The Sand was laid down in an uneven base, and then the Brown, Dark Green, and Light Green applied in random splotches using torn printer paper as "stencils."  Then random streaks, splotches, and dusting was applied freehand using the Sand, Brown, and Light Green.

No degreasing or finishing coat used, and there is probably still cat hair trapped underneath layers of rattle can.

Anyone give me a tip on the best way to paint over bead blast?

Got a Ballistic Advantage that's screaming for a black finish. Would I go to hell if I just Rustoleum'd it? Not looking for anything terrifically durable, just something that won't bubble up and get funky.

Looking for something purely DIY, and if I could avoid having to bake it, that'd be great. Will regular Rustoleum camo work? Or do I need something like grill/muffler paint, or more high tech like Brownells Alumnahyde.

Any help would be much appreciated.

My barrel has rustoleum, krylon, and aervoe on it, all has held up 100%. Something, I believe my alumihide, turned colors on a hot suppressor.

I appreciate the info! Granted, I won't be doing mag dumps, so I figured I'd be alright with the regular rattle stuff. Thanks for responding so quickly!

All these pics are pushing me to buy a stencil set...

I have 2 SBRs that I want to paint either Kryptek or Dragonscale camo but I'm a little hesitant to take the plunge.

FWIW I want to paint my 14.5" in Mandrake colors and my 11.5" in a Raid colorscheme.

I can't remember if I posted my rifle or not. It started off as a Finslayer83 paint-job, but I've added Rustoleum to it since I've owned it. From handling and firing, the paint is coming off in some places, which makes it grungy-looking but cool. It's my 'Tusken Raider' rifle, but it eats whatever ammo I have on hand, bangs steel plates out to 300 yards with Wolf Gold, and just chugs away like a jackhammer.
