My unscientific test method has always been the same: 1) place various camo items (gear, guns, clothes) in various environmental settings (edge of woodline, in farm field, near a house, etc); 2) take pictures; 3) repeat each season; 4) evaluate. To my eyes in my area I always found the macro patterns to be most effective. Good old woodland camo always wins in summer..no matter how much I want ATACS FG, CADPAT, MARPAT, Danish M84, Flectarn, Multicam, etc to beat it. Your mileage varied. ETA: For my area Danish M84 was really effective in spring, and ATACS FG is very effective in autumn. It could just be me, but many colors/patterns seem to bright. I stay away from black, but OD or some other dark green, coyote brown, and dark brown are my favorites. |

Sponge, Kryptec, and other patterns do have a place, you just need to be the person to work in that place. |

Also kinda like the plain black vortex contrast against your paint job. Well done sir I'm still waiting on my form 1 to come back before I throw some paint on mine Just don't want to try it now and then try and get the stock to match later. |

I was going to do mine that way but with different colors. I already have a base coat of khaki. Thanks A base coat of khaki. Laundry bag with flat black lightly dusted on the top. Some stripes of earth brown. Then ALOT of masking tape. Tore it lengthwise kinda randomly to make a rough edge. Then masked off everything except where the khaki and brown meet and sprayed with more flat black. |
