Do they make skins for AR-10/LR-308-sized rifles? I didn't see on the website, but since you've talked to them, Troy, maybe you've asked or they've mentioned it? I'm really interested in getting one of these (for an AR-15) to try out, then if they have them available, maybe on for my LR-308... View Quote I don't think they have any kits for AR-10/LR308 sized recievers yet. You could send them a message via their Facebook page to ask as they are fairly responsive that way. |

Next week, I'm ordering an A-TACS AU set for my FN FS2K. Just fired off a message asking what they recommend to cover it.

Looks good and you did a very good job on the application. But I see that pink look that I was talking about in my post, it is only in very tan rich patterns. Looks good though.

Quoted: I'd like to bring this thread back to life. Gunskins contacted me about trying out a prototype of one of their new AK kits. They sent me an ATACS AU kit for fee if I would give them some feedback on it before they went into production with it. They also told me that they changed the process for the ATACS AU and it has resulted in a better match to actual ATACS fabrics both indoors and outdoors. I am very pleased with their AK kit, though I did give them about half a dozen small items they could improve upon for production. What I'm most happy about is their new ATACS AU printed patterns - it's now VERY accurate and no longer has a peach hue to it. Onto the photos. I used an old Romanian WASR 10, which I had painted earlier this year with Brownell's Aluma Hyde II in Coyote. I applied the Gunskins wrap directly over the Aluma Hyde and it adhered very well. If you do the cuts like they say they are not very noticeable. Its not show gun quality but it looks perfect from 2ft away. This product is great for hunters or tactical shooters.

Just ordered Multicam GunSkin to wrap my Ruger American 7mm-08. Cheap rifle but damn accurate. Never liked the cheap polymer stock so maybe this will give it some life.
Will update in a few days when i am done. |

Well..I bit the bullet and paid full price for a sheet of gunskins in ATACS LE for $40 free shipping. 6"x72" Came in a box that was smashed a little flat and had a small hole poked into the vinyl. Still, I would say it was almost satisfactory packaging and fast shipping. Took me 2.5 hours to slap this on there and involved a little help from my buddy and after he left, my wife had to help a bit. I think it looks "ok." Pictures make it look way better than it does in person or up close, but I can live with that. I initially thought to myself "I am never doing this again" and even my wife (who sat there and laughed at me for the last 2 hours) said that she would have invested the $150-$200 to just have the gun painted. HOWEVER, I can't really remember last night between the wild cherry pepsi, dr.pepper, and three glasses of cold water I slammed back before bed so I guess I will just leave you with this... if you want to look different? Get the gunskin. If you want your pictures to look awesome? Get the gunskin. If you want to drive yourself mad hacking away at a sticker that wasn't made to fit your gun? Get the gunskin. If you want to camo up your gun for actual use in the field? Get your gunskin. I like it. It started growing on me really fast. Up close the gunskin looks like it was installed by an inebriated class of kindergarteners with dull scissors and half eaten glue sticks. But I can live with that. http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh617/norinco982lover/8C897A67-83C6-4FB4-A9EB-B63C7AB6E7A3_zpsdq4cdndz.jpg http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh617/norinco982lover/C75C4AF7-8D8B-4601-B435-1FB0B804E4A3_zpsfmrxjbug.jpg View Quote Looks good, looks really good. I was the same as you on my first install. At first I was like "I'm never doing this again", but then it grew on me also. After a couple days I was thinking it looked pretty cool. I went ahead and got another gunskin for another gun and it was a lot easier to put on and I avoided all the mistakes I made the first time. I'm thinking of getting a pistolskin and trying it out. |

has anybody done a precision rifle? I would like to see pics.
|

I did my Ruger American 7mm-08 in multicam. I can say like most others on here, for arms length or further it looks alright. When you get close, you can see the wrinkles where the stock bends. And Eff the idea of wrapping the tapered barrel. I ain't got time for that!
I'll post some pics when I get home. |

I just did one in desert storm, I got a couple wrinkles or creases or whatever you want to call it but I'm pretty happy with it

Quoted:Nice, but offset red dot with irons has me confused. View Quote It's a Sub2000 so the main appeal of that rifle is that it folds in half for concealability. I was sick for a month and a half so I still haven't wrapped my MKII. I'll get to it soon though. |

View Quote 1) read this entire thread, including the lessons learned 2) watch the instructional videos on the Gunskins website 3) get a lot of replacement X-Acto knife blades - always use a fresh sharp blade. I probably use 5-6 blades per gun 4) thoroughly prep the surface you're going to apply the wrap to 5) use a Heat gun on the section of wrap to be applied 6) don't expect your first time to be perfect. |

One last question:
What degreaser is recommended? I am starting with a Surefire 618. Hoping to make it match an 870 A-tac. Think something like alcohol would be enough to clean it? I know you said earlier it didn't work for a rifle, but I think brake cleaner may be a bit much for my light. |

View Quote NO, isopropyl rubbing alcohol is not recommended. When I started out with the Gunskins I started out completely stripping the firearms and spraying the parts to be wrapped with brake cleaner. Eventually, I went to using a rag and Brownell's TCE cleaner/degreaser. That method has proven to be quicker and easier. Here's a link to the Brownell's TCE cleaner. I bought a quart of it and it will last a very long time. Brownells TCE cleaner |
