Melonite is a case hardening process similar to the Tennifer process and not a coating per se. If this is indeed what you want look into local heat treating shops.

I spoke at length with the production manager and had a number of barrels, bolts and other pieces done by them. Their process is referred to QPQ (Quench Polish Quench) and the result is a semi gloss black finish. I was hesitant when we first met, worried they would not be receptive to doing firearms components. But considering they have an FFL to be able to do the receivers... it made for a very easy conversation. |
