THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I thought I was being smart when I used Avery laser shipping labels for paint templetes. What I found is that when you peel them off they leave a residue which is a pain to remove. What sticky media are you using to make templetes? Finish: Duracoat Time left on: 24 hours (applied laser printed and cut templetes one one day and painted and removed the following day). Thanks |

I've used contact paper (the stuff you put down in cabinets) with good results. It's not overly sticky, and a PAIN to sit there and cut out, but comes off very easily. It's pretty cheap too.

I had a buddy of mine who owns a vinyl cutting machine cut me some crazy designs on the sticky backing for the vinyl stickers and it worked great. Cost my like $5 bucks for something like 6 feeet by 30" of material.

In the airbrushingmodels section of almost any crafts store (Michaels, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, etc) you can find a material called "frisket". It comes in sheets or rolls and is specifically designed for making low-tack templates for airbrushing. I used it with great results - but like the above poster, it takes a while to sit there and cut things out if you have an intricate pattern.
