Base coat is Krylon Camo Kahaki. I then striped it with Camo OD Green and Camo Dark Brown. Randon sponge texture with all 3 and then I used a little primer red and a very little black.
I don't think I want to lay it down in the Virginia woods, I might not find it this time of the year. |

Great info. You guys doing AR's- is there any problem with the paint gumming up the BHO or mag release? Is there any danger of that? Curious since it appears some have taped those off, some haven't. Thanks.

Only use enough to cover. It does not take 3 cans to paint an AR.
I pulled the FCG from my lower before the basecoat mainly to degrease the surface. Everything else I left installed and have not had any problems with sluggish operation or failure to operate at all. Try it, You will like it. |

Damn! Finally a method of camouflaging guns that I think even someone of my pathetic level of skill can handle! That digital woodland scheme looks fan-freaking-tastic. I'll have to give that finish a shot on my next build.
BTW, for those who like seeing the process in action, I found a video on the tube showing an air softer using this same method to paint one of his guns. The funny thing is, he learned how to do it from this very thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgACuGtC3ow This looks like a relatively simple process that delivers fantastic results. I can't wait to give this a try, whereas I wouldn't even attempt many of the other methods out there. |

Anyone tried to make a Multicam compatible version? If so, please post pics and a description of the colors you used.

These are from an old Japanese WWII rifle that was cosmetically in bad shape. The camo job did worlds of wonder for it. Forgot to take before pics, but trust me, it was well used over 65 years ago!

Apply it in the sun and it will take away all that glare you have on the body, which will show up in natural sunlight and expose your position. |

Battlestick, You have a slick looking weapon to match your screename now.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, I appreciate it!
TNG- That is correct. No striping on my rifle. Where I hunt is mostly in pine trees and pine thickets, so the last year or so I used just all green. I decided that it was a bit too dark for all year use, so I just lightened it up sponging on the tan. I think if you were to use a dull grey base coat and then sponge on some tan, it would look a whole lot more like real ACU. I may try that when this paint gets all beat up. Edited Spelling |

The cheapest sponge to use I found in the Walmart craft section. It looks like small sections of cut up natural sponge like in your photo, I dont know whether its natural or not. A large bag was less than $5.
