I had no idea there were any in this price range, till I saw the atn version.
I did some reading here and basically found no one like them or the company. Some good some bad reviews on line but basically staying away.

someone mentioned Sightmark Photon XT, and it too has good reviews on line, but not much mentioned here.
Is this a good entry level scope?
Any others to look at?

I am guessing anything in this range is digital? No true NV?
Do you just mount a regular scope during daytime and hope your quick detach puts everything back to zero if you have a true nv scope?

ATN fakes image shot so they can not be trusted even when they do make a good product. You are always making a deal with the devil when you deal with overt liars.

Someone else will probably chime about Photon. I don't have one but a few people here do and it seems to be the only thing in its price bracket worth having. A T20 light will help it.

Yes, anything in that price range will be digital... or Gen 1.

We do not apply the Obama Principle with regard to return to zero. We use good mounts and they return to zero reliably (no hope involved).

so you do have to change optics if you want to shoot daylight?

I don't think you do HAVE to change. My experience with these is limited but I don't think you are going to have the quality of image you would like for daytime use.

Clarify terrain and expected distance.

sorry I meant for true nv gear, not for the day night setup's.

I am probably not looking for more than 100 yards with this day or night.
currently have a cheap 3x9 40 on it right now. 223 with a 16 inch wylde barrel.

mostly just wanted better optics and noticed this nv/day scope was in my price range along with the atn and wanted to see if they were worth having.

And over 10,000 ATN Smart HD Owners (X-Sights, Thor & MARS) can be found on the Facebook group below with hundreds of high definition hunting videos recorded on the scopes.

ATN Smart HD Owners Facebook group

This is a closed group but they routinely let non-owners who want to research the scopes join.

If you buy one of the scopes, you'll have a 24/7 resource as well since the users routinely help new folks get up to speed.

Personally I would give the X-sight II from ATN another vote, mine has been great for me thus far. During the day the optical clarity will be inferior to glass because its digital. It is still pretty good, but it can never touch a good glass optic in that regard.

well I guess that does say a lot. 3 people backing them up. I guess most of the neg feedback was due to the fake pictures?

I decided to give the X-Sight II a try because of this thread.  Looked around and found the 5-20 version for $539, which was about $100 cheaper than optics planet would sell it.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campId=5337559805&toolId=10001&customId=j0ecrrqh0z00zk8a00004&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F272369083713

It's supposed to arrive Thursday

If you join the Facebook  owners group before you get the scope you can get a lot of pointers about the scope before it arrives.

The  fake pictures were from ATN's attempts to sell Gen 1 IIT technology providing performance equal to Gen 3 by taking standard daylight photos and photo shopping them.

Blatantly, crassly misrepresenting your product without even the decency to falsify the photos well enough to not offend the core constituents of your consumer base goes a long way. It was sad and disgusting - at times it was even funny. How are supposed to forget?

100 dollars cheaper raises questions.
refurb? grey market, etc..
doesn't mean people won't put up with it to save a buck.
also they don't really sell optics.
if you check their store, nothing is listed.
if you check their other auctions maybe a dozen are optics vs the hundreds of fishing items.

might be they are dabbling, might be they got a great deal.
doesn't hurt to check with someone before hand.

Use to own a x sight gen 1 - gave up with it after a year. Just shitted me off to no end, went back to tubed optics.

But a friend got him self the Yukon photon xt 6.5x ( sightmark ) pretty sure the same made by pulsar company. Now I wish I brought that scope over the ATN xsight 5-18x gen1 for the same coin. I can't speak for the Gen2 xsight.

But that was the first and last time I buy a ATN product.

Honestly about the only thing worth owning in that range is the Photon XT.  It works great for what it is and is well within your budget.
