I received my TNVPVS-14 a few weeks ago.
I am working on my set up and I have the
compiled the following support gear.

My AR pistol has an OTAL, WMLx IR, and
a red dot.

My pistols are FNX Tacticals, 1 with TLR-2
IRW to which I have added the Streamlight
IR filter, and the other FNXT has a TLR-1 for
non NV work.

I have my NV mounted on an Opscore bump
with a Norotos bayonet mount and I have
Howard Leight's mounted on adapters.

I would like input on what helmet mounted
lights I should buy. I like the Strix, but I am
open to suggestions.

This is a bump in the night or SHTF rig for
me.

So I need input on task lights & the possibility
of adding a torch, of some kind.

Thanks!

John

I'm partial to the STRIX because it has pretty much anything I'll ever need in a task light and it has separate controls for Vis and IR plus an admin lockout. I don't accidentally turn on the IR and find my battery depleted. I mount it on the left side so I can keep my right hand on my rifle while I work the light controls.

The STRIX is light so it's not an issue -  I just want to add that if you install anything heavy on one side of your helmet that it needs to be countered on the other side. I don't notice the imbalance much until after day 3 of use and then I have pain that sustains for a while.

The Surefire M1 is the gold standard for helmet mounted lights.

A SolarForce IR module in a SureFire 6P housing is a pretty potent addition. The SolarForce modules have good reliability if they are not weapon mounted. I have not had one fail weapon mounted, yet, but others have.

I like to use the Kley-Zion low profile mount for any 1 inch tube lights that I helmet mount so the lights don't get hung on as many branches as a full profile mount. Face it - you're going to make some bad navigation decisions under NVD so keep your gear as snag free as possible for the times you get caught in thicket.

I run the Surefire M1 for flood and Princeton Tec MPLS for task.
I believe the mount is a viking tactics for the M1.

I just ordered the Princeton tec charge after talking with Sam at TNVC. Gonna try that out for a while and see if something like the M1 or Vampire is necessary for me.

This gives some items to research.

Thanks!

For a light weight alternative I would run either a streamlight sidewinder I /II which is a combo of white/blue good for seeing blood/red to preserve your night adapted eyes and IR. It has 4 brightness levels and strobe for each. I don't  have the need for a larger  mounted light for a flood light because I would rather run weapons mounted white and IR light.

I don't see this listed on TNVC's
website. Does this mean they are
simply out of stock, or do they
not carry them because they have
issues.

Thanks again for the input.
