I'll get excited when there is a civi version and it's not a ton of money.

Does look awesome though.

Looks good. No telling what the price will be, not that it matters since a bunch of unelected bureaucrats at FDA have decreed that you must be one of the king's men to have one.

How are you integrating it with your TAPS switch?

I'm trying to understand if you are running 3 functions (including visible light) all from the TAPS, still using the MAWL on-board buttons for some functions, using a separate switch for a light, etc.

I think TAPS is cool, but I personally don't like wires--they can fail, they can snag, and they are ugly and look messy.

I am imagining the MAWL with a WML at 12:00... Seems like it would be pretty close to perfect as long as you aren't trying to include a visible laser.

Enough with the dick tease... What's the long shot of a civ version ever coming out?

Ok, so take this for what it is, but.... I was listening to a livestream the other day & a former action guy happened to mention that he had a MAWL inbound. No big deal I thought, then he mentioned that he was pretty sure that it was going to be the civ version... I'm much more interested. He also mentioned that he believed that the illuminator on it was going to be something a bit better than we are all used to on civ model LAMs & he's highly critical of all the current civ LAM's illumintors. The other mention was of price... now he specifically said to not quote him, but the number was around $2500-2600 bones.

So the take away seems to be, the civ model is at least on their radar, the illuminator might be something special & its gonna cost us, whenever it drops Frankly, I'm just glad & even a bit surprised that the civ model is even being considered.  A lot of B.E. Meyers stuff is the super duper restricted level lasers & really a lot of this stuff is never R&D'd with the intention of the civilian market. If the companies get around to it, we are all happy, but their main customer has been & always be the .mil.

$2500?  Nope. How much better can it be than a d2 for almost half the price?

I know this is all conjecture. I'm assuming this is accurate.

I could believe $2,500.  I don't think there's anything that remotely compares, restricted or not.  It may not be worth it for hunting, but it's in a league of its own for tactical applications.

I should have been more clear. I would believe $2500 too. I just wouldn't pay that much since I doubt, for my use, it would justify the cost increases over say a d2.

If it turns out to be in the ballpark of other high end civi units then I'll try it.

+5....What was interesting about this thread?

It was all taken with the actual Class 1+ MAWL!  Glad no one blew up the pics to see the markings, the word would have been out!....

Well, it's awesome. No doubt about that. And I can buy one. That's awesome.

It's just so damn much. These things just keep going up and up. This is more than my gen three NV unit!  I'm not talking shit. Just thinking out loud.

I wish I could but for how much I'd use this I just can't justify that kind of coin.

My uncle will sell me his dbal d2 for $1000 and I'm having a hard time justifying that.

Considering the design and similar warranty of competing products, do you know if BE Meyers will offer replacement parts (in the future) should a person break something? It's pretty pricey, but I think it would sway some consumers if they knew that should something break outside of the warranty period, end user level repair (parts replacement) can be done without spending a load of money (for a new unit) or sending the device in to the factory.

Yeah... performance is definitely expensive.

I got to get a run down on the MAWL C1+ vs. the MAWL-DA from one of the BEM engineers yesterday and it's really, really impressive how much they were able to get so much performance out of the Class 1 laser while staying within the FDA's variances.

The integration of superior IR illumination technology to ergonomic design definitely makes a huge difference.

Pretty awesome thing this mawl is. Price aside this looks like about the best ir laser on the market now. I'm not going to stick a clunky dbal d2 on my rifle, so if this thing gets to 2k, that's my buy in price.

I'm with you for 2.5k w/ a one year warranty I'd stick with a d2 or aptial-c however, if and when it comes down to 2k or they extend the warranty then things change.

Premium product for a premium price.  Hard for most casual users to make the jump.  The functionality increase seems to be worth the coin.  I like the fact that they have given the choice to the consumers.  I hope they make bank on this and that sets the foundation for others to follow this business model.  It's irritating when cool stuff is out but you can't buy "just because".  My grandpa always said never tell a customer no just make the price so high they don't want it anymore.
