No, as long as you take the batteries out and in a controlled temp of course with no extremes. Too many nightmare stories at times with exploded batteries. Hope this helps.

Alkaline batteries will leak when they die due to gas build up which ruptures the casing. Lithium batteries have a vent to prevent this. Exploding is extreme but leaking corrosive acid is never good for electronics and is easily avoided by removing batteries in storage. |

Vic Glad Dino brought up Lith's...Good investment to use these types of batts. They also work very well in extreme cold temps as well. Metal may add a little bit more to the equation of fireproofing, waterproofing, EMP proofing, etc. Just a thought. :0
