Is there a listed pre-registration for the Android version.  I'm really wanting one of these, but I don't want to buy a different phone.

PS I am correct that I can attach and remove this fairly easily and still use my phone?

Will the price increase after the preorder deal is finished? I'm really thinking about getting one, since most of my hunting is in the woods where you can't see more than 100 yards anyway.

You should be able to order direct from either Amazon or Apple once the preorders are out, which would be the 2nd week in August.

I swore I'd never buy another NSA Personal Tracker (iPhone).

You made me buy an unlocked one just for the damn FLIR ONE (preordered from your link).

It'll be a dedicated thermal camera that cost $900

If you're lucky enough to have an Apple Store near you, they will have these on the shelves for you to see up close and personal as well.  Just got confirmation from a few of my Apple buddies.

Additionally, as an Apple developer, I have acquired some very cool software to play with through some friends!

This should be a great little device if utilized correctly!

If enough interest in the FLIRONE thermal smartphone pans out, there will be even more awesome improvements on this platform in the future with the Quark cores...

The new FLIR IPhone case makes use of the Quark camera core, a tiny 0.75” cube with great high thermal resolution and low power requirements. The FLIR Quark core is available in resolutions of 320 x 240 and 640 x 480, with a sensitivity of 0.05 ºC or 50 mK. The Quark can be configured with a wide variety of lenses, including 6.3mm, 9mm, 13mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, 25mm, and a 35mm telephoto lens. Frame rates vary from a full 60 Hz down to an export ready 7.5 Hz.

With the 9mm lens and 640 x 480 resolution, the FLIRONE is able to detect a person at over 800 ft (250m). But with the available 35mm lens, the FLIRONE can see a person at over 3000 ft (940m), or a warm vehicle at over a mile and a half away.

Here is a FLIRONE with 13mm lens on a QUARK core, just imagine what you can do with this Genius Phone!

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has shown great interest in these thermal imagers small enough to fit in helmets, eyeglasses, rifle sights, minidrones, and cellphones.

The pace of our technological and scientific advancement is surpassed only by our ability to fuck things up.

Not an idyllic combination.

I know it was a link to a plasma cutter, but I was trying to point out that the url format is one of an amazon product.  My order number from Flir is formatted like an amazon order number.  And if I was going to do my first consumer product launch, I would use amazon to do the warehousing and shipping.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to dim down the iphone screen so it doesn't immediately give away my location when I am scanning for hogs etc.? Are there any companies that make a 720nm IR filter iphone screen protector?

Or maybe something like this?

Did I read correctly on a recent review that saved images are fusion only, and can't be saved as just thermal data?

Still, though, eagerly awaiting August 11 here as well.

I don't know if it's available for Apple but Android has a few apps that can dim the screen down to almost nothing.

Thanks for the link. Here's something similar: http://dimmy.net/main/ I might try to cut it up to fit my phone.

This may have been covered but what happens when the dimensionally different, new iPhone comes out in a month?

Wonder if FLIR has a plan for that or if it's iPhone 5 or bust?

Which means you gotta buy a new one when you buy a new phone.  That is the problem with tying one technology to another in a parasitic relationship between two unrelated companies.

Skypup knows the device better, but IIRC it's designed to be somewhat modular such that the sleds can be made to fit different phone models.

The FLIRONE is a 'sled', and as such it slides OVER your current iPhone 5/5s body and then integrates with the operating system through a connector where you normally plug in your charger.

If you were to opt for an iPhone 6 this fall, due to it's dimensional differences, you would likely have to get a the new model FLIRONE that will hopefully be released this fall also.  However, if you didn't trade your iPhone 5 in on the iPhone 6, you could likely operate your FLIRONE with the iPhone 5 without cell service.

I just installed it to play around with the sample files. At this price point, I think I'll be pretty satisfied with the basic feature set.

Is the "help" button broken for anyone else? Every time I click it, the app force-closes.

If they'd ditch the stupid fuel flow limits and let them rev up to 15K like they were designed for (they top at at about 10-11K with the 100kg/hr limits) they'd sound a lot better.

And the turbo sound, I have to admit, is growing on me.
