Critters have no clue they are no longer the ultimate predators in the dark.

I have the IR mark II 35mm.   Is the upgrade worth it?  I thought when I purchased the unit the firmware would be upgradable and free.  Well 900 buck just to get reticle coordiniates.  2400 or so for the 60mm upgrade.    So, I can live with it as is without paying 900 for the coordinates.  It sits on my blackout but I'd like to put it on other things and record the coordinates so I can go back.  I'm aware of work arounds.   Is the 60mm worth it for the price tag?

I upgraded my 35mm MKII to the 35mm MKIII.... pricey upgrade that is way overpriced IMO but I don't regret it.... could care less about going from a single lever to a dual lever LT mount or downloading images but being able to save reticle locations for each of my rigs & access to the X & Y coordinates greatly increased usability as I swap between 3 rigs/calibers... also, nice to save separate zeros for subs & supers w/ 300BLK. The rangefinder is pretty damn cool & I do like & use the added reticles (particularly the mini). I did not opt for the 60mm upgrade, prefer the FOV of the 35mm.

Thanks for your input.  So.     The 60 has a 7 degree FOV.  Have no idea what that would look like.   Nor how it would affect my shooting.  I normally shoot about 50 to 100 yards.  No more.  Most of the time, I can walk up to pigs within 30 yards with my night vision goggles, flip them up and thermal blast them.    I just wonder if the 60 will leave me wondering.

Got my MK II from TNVC.  What's the charge for just the firmware vic?

Narrow

Will definitely impact your ability to quickly scan a large pasture or cut-over.

Definitely stick w/ 35mm for that type of shooting.

I just wonder if the 60 will leave me wondering.
Wondering where in the hell the pig is at those distances, I would think. Disclaimer - I have no time behind a 60mm, basing opinion off of comparison shots between 35mm & 60mm. The 60 damn sure produces an awesome image but for sub 100yards... thick woods.. I would much rather have the 35mm. Just my .02 & worth about as much.

Bought my MKII from UNV but dealt directly w/ IRD for the MKIII upgrade... asked about just doing software... no-go on that option. Maybe things have changed now that Trijicon is calling the shots... doubt it though.

The 60mm is worth it if you want/need more distance and don't mind a 7 degree FOV. I like the 12 degree FOV for pig hunting, but much prefer the 7 degree FOV for calling coyotes. The image is noticeably better because of the lack of the germanium window on the 60mm. I also really like the small reticle on the MK3 and REAP-IRs and the X/Y coordinates are very handy. If you are running different brands of uppers or whatever pic rail you are attaching the scope to on each rifle be aware that the LaRue mount may require some adjustment which can slightly change POI. For example my ASA upper is wider than my ARFCOM upper, so I have to check zero when going back and forth.

Thanks.  I appreciate the response.  I'm going with the 60mm upgrade because I do have a lot of wide open space to hunt and I can distance myself more from my hog shots.

Pigs on the roof, pigs in the back, no pigs in the seats?
How many pigs in side

27 REAP-IRs, 14 Mk2 35mm, 2 Mk2 20mm, and  8 M300w units IN STOCK before the price increase hits.  These are the last of the mohicans get em while they're hot!

What's up with the price increase? I must not be up to date on my IRD news.

Hey, what's the unit they make with the manual focus?

I think I want one of those!

M300 is a fine monocular, but there is no joy in sighting it in.  Really wish it would show x,y.  When I got it, I had planned on hunting with it.  I still carry it as a monocular, but Absolutely love the Mark III as a scope.
