Here are some pics, will try to screen capture to see if it is better.

Spoke to FLIR warranty, they said they would send out a replacement ls64, was expecting it Tuesday after the holiday, but FedEx arrived the next day, Now that's service I still have both units in hand, but the one with the bad sensor will go back Tuesday, they paid shipping both ways!

Ziekos 4.5x lens with step down ring to 30.5mm, el cheapo setup.
You have to focus after attaching the lens.
Will the pvs 3x lens be in focus when you hold it up to an already focused pvs14 ? or does it require refocusing also?

I had to refocus mine with 3X. No biggie, was minor adjustment.

Pretty surprised how there's not much more of a difference between the two.

Wait until he takes stills from the video feed instead of through the camera lens system.

Difference is huge to me, in one there is a blur, in the other you can easily count 5 sources.

Also for me what's lost here is the refresh rate. 7hz takes me twice as long to scan an area. I have to sweep and stop.  Sweep and stop. With the 30hz I can scan while sweeping. I think at the end of the night I'll cover more ground more accurately.
But I may just be trying to not miss my $4200 dollars.

To some one trying to decide. Pick one and start living your life.

Ls 64 scoped pins on bottom of unit, no video output so no go with dvr.

Isn't the LS64 capable of displaying the video in full resolution through the unit's screen?

Thought it was.

Yes you can see the screen. I wanted to hook a dvr to video signal, the ps32/24 has video output on the pins on the bottom of the unit, so a dvr would work for those models. The pins on ls 64 have connection for hotshoe charging, but not video.

I cannot fathom why flir decided to leave out video output on the LS64.

Yea, Still on the fence about selling it and getting a thor 320 4.5x. Got a good ls64 with no bad pixels now, first one was returned with bad spot on the microbolometer sensor I wanted id capability out to about 400yds. The ls64 has not impressed me from a ID capability, it is outstanding at long range detection.

What type of situation would you want the video output for?
Don't really see myself using it to be honest.

You know what you gotta' do though. Sell it.

Sell iiiiiitttt.

Gonna place my order soon though!

Gonna order a scope mount thermal, if I like it better than the LS64 I will put the ls64 up for sale in classifieds for just under $5k should sell, has not been registered & no surprises when you open the box (defective) .  I will use PVS 14 head mounted, with ps24 handheld for quick scanning and thermal on rifle as well as IR laser for targeting and remove it for long range scanning. The t14xHD looks like it will fit the bill, should be available in a couple of weeks.  The HD version has 384x288 sensor which is above the atn thor units. The video processing cleans up and sharpens the video better IMHO. Will post video & pics when I get it in hand. The handheld versions have been around for a while in europe, so not a new company.

Here are some more pics , with ground cooler the ls 64 really does a lot better. But my ps24 will detect everything I can detect with the ls64.

Added resistor 220ohm to hotshoe and now have video output for dvr recording. Same hotshoe DIY for ps24/ps32 with resistor added across the video pins.

Added resistor across video output pins 220ohm

Here is pic before resistor, add resistor to gnd and red wire to apply a load to the circuit.
I needed to do this to get video output from my ls64 with same adaptor I use for ps24
