I also have the TLR-1 IR. Either of those will put an illuminator on your rig with very small real estate if you replace the light you have now. The WML and TLR-1 aren't good for 600 yards, but my thought is to do the Uni on top rail and Inforce/TLR on one side. This illuminates fine for close work. Have a mount on the opposing side where you can throw a monster visible light or monster IR illuminator on with a QD mount at those times when you need to reach out and touch someone. You can also swap the heads on a Surefire. |

The WML is really good for the closer in stuff especially dark rooms that most outside light is blocked out. A wml is great for something like a pole barn or morton shed at night with night vision. The moon/stars are blocked out and you are gonna get so much splash and bounce back from stronger surefires etc the wml is soft enough that you get good illumination with out making it overkill. For the 600 yard piece I have a tac IR from streamlight that is surprisingly good for the cost of about 110 bucks. Other options like the TNVC torch are also very good but cost about twice as much. |

Word. The Surefire comment was merely to illustrate that rather than running a WML, and then swapping a visible and IR monster back and forth onto the same real estate depending if you're going long throw in vis or IR, you could just swap vis and IR heads and leave the same body mounted. Leave the tape switch alone, no need to carry two lights, etc. I'm actually looking into a package that will let me do that; who knows if it exists with good performance in both spectrums. Anyone have suggestions on that? ETA Optics Planet has the Streamlight Tac Ir for like $80. |

View Quote That's a PEQ-16 so fortunately the worst he'll get is 125 lumens of white light in his face. That's assuming he's right handed. If he's left handed, then yeah, not so good. I'm not even sure why he's got it mounted on the top rail. Normally, when you're running a M203 with the leaf sight, the PEQ's are mounted on the side rail. |
