If you like or want a tape switch or you want to stack your uni and a small pistol light the uni is the go to. If you like thumb operated stuff the CT is pretty great. |

I have a UnI IR with take switch on my LaRue 22 and it works great.
For value I think a used ITAL/OTAL is as good as it gets. It's good enough for me to trust and doesn't break the bank, |

Really at the end of the day, I picked up the UNI-IR because it was a good deal, and I needed to quickly get a second rifle set up for use with an IR laser, and had less than $200 to spend. Having used the AN/PAQ-4C, I don't think I'd be satisfied anymore with the options available in civilian legal lasers, it was great back in 2004, but there are just too many better options available now - not that I think that the OTAL would be a bad unit - but once the ATPIAL-C and subsequently the DBAL-A3 and DBAL-I2 single spectrum were announced, I just don't see myself dropping the cash for one anymore. ~Augee |

Also I just bought my 4th *TAL for $300ish on the used market. |

I'm wondering how awkward it would be to try to attach one of these to my binos, and head mount the whole thing - I reckon after being used to dual PVS-14s, the weight of an iPhone 4S and the adapter shouldn't be too bad, but I don't know how much the offset weight would bother me, though I guess people use COTIs, and other things without too much problem. Probably be a bit of an awkward looking setup regardless. The only other reason I'm hesitating is I'm wondering whether or not I'd prefer to save my money to get a GoPro and the forthcoming Unity "see through" mount when they're released. I'd love to do some videos of some of the more "run and gun," and "bounding" stuff that I do when I have the opportunity, and I'm not sure how well the iPhone adapter would be for that kind of work versus more static work. ~Augee |

I never used that setup was just bored and was wondering what the setup would be like to run that light at 12 o clock. I was searching for a way to access the light and laser from both sides with what I currently have and no pressure switches. I typically run an Elcan and the laser on top with no rear sight. I just got the ATPIAL though so haven't decided whether to have the laser on top or on the side. Def not a serious setup at the moment. The thorntail doesn't work well with the ATPIAL to mount in a place where I can access it from both sides |

I'd still love to come out for a visit one of these days to meet the AZ crew, and it's not 100% off the table yet, but without guaranteed funding ("renewable up to five years") and a $99 Million cut to higher education funding by the state, it's seeming like an imprudent option.

Actually, speaking of "old school," it's an RDP II.
Several years back, we had a conversation on MRDs - given the fact that I managed to trash both a (then expensive) Trijicon Red Dot and Docter Optic, and I determined that it was actually cheaper for me to buy the (then cheap) RDP IIs and trash them and replace them, I think at the time, I'd determined that I could trash three RDP IIs before it would've been cheaper to have bought a Docter. ~Augee |

ST Compressor - 8.1" barrel. 24.5" OAL, 8 lbs 12 oz as shown. This is the 556 version.Aimpoint T1, Surefire M300B, DBAL I2.
http://www.spikestactical.com/st-compressor-sbr-556-nfa-p-491.html I swapped out CTR stock with the LWRC ultra compact and the LWRC dual ambi sling mount. I really like the combination of the LWRC Ultra Compact stock on the short suppressed Compressor. It really seems to fit that package and allows it to fit in the short Sneaky Bag with room to spare. I can keep a small EGL VOCR-2 chest rig, med gear plus cleaning kit & tools in a very compact footprint. It has become my grab and go rifle gear setup when travelling. The bag even has a compartment that fits my Sentinels and Crye Night Cap so it covers night operations. http://www.sneakybags.com/store/SPYDER_Covert_Carry_Bag Video of using the short sneaky bag with the SBR as a fieldable low profile system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=hGF-Ede6ZPk |
