THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Recently picked one up and getting it going.

When installing the two piece slip ring that surrounds the tube-the ring has small screws-do these screw into corresponding holes in the ocular or is the ring just put in place by hand and that's all. If it does need to be screwed in-what is the right tool to use? Thanks.

They are friction screws to stop the tube coming unscrewed from heavy vibration during operation. They just give a friction fit against the ocular when screwed in.

Loosen them off before installation.
