Yes, all the M-24's manufactured after June 2014 have the 2.7 upgrade built in.

FLIR software engineers are working on the upgrade for all the current military contract GS thermal products, M-18, M-24, T-70, T-75, but will not be completed until sometime next year from what I understand as it is a complete re-write of the software/firmware of these instruments.

FLIR GS products will have to be returned to the factory for the upgrade as they are military hardware instruments, FLIR PS products will be provided with a software upgrade download off their website as these are civilian consumer products.

OK, cool. So the upgrade will be available to civilian owned m24s you would just have to send it in?

Does this apply to the RS line or no?

Yes, RS will have user software download to install off FLIR PS website when the upgrade is finished similar to earlier RS updates.

Part of the delay of getting this upgrade out is that FLIR is currently undergoing an internal reorganization with some consolidation of the Personal Vision Systems civilian division with the Government Systems military contract division, which previously were separate and autonomous entities.

The entire ISO9000 Government Systems military manufacturing plant is being moved from Pittsburg to Boston and an entire new facility is being built and coming online for all the military contract hardware....

Interesting. That explains why, when I called flir to inquire about that m24, they had to transfer me to three different locations before I could talk to someone who could help me.

Yeah, the GS Division is amidst the process of a major move, which is why getting ahold of a new FLIR GS M-24 640 core takes 90 days or so.....

Here is a newspaper article about some of the employees affected by the move...

BTW, their latest SEC filing states that some 30,000 FLIRONE I-phone thermal cameras have been sold to consumers....that is allot of thermal exposure to an otherwise brain dead consumer market.

I love that criminal thermal video too, nice job producing that one!

Plus, I just LOVE IT when a trained police dog gets ahold of some criminal ass on the run and brings it down to the ground.

I am hoping that the image update become available sometime early next Spring after Shot Show, it is too late for it now with the holidays and show coming up.

Here is the REAL BEAUTY of thermal.

Drenching hot for Christmas, 100% Humid, 75*F, raining 2.5 inches all day long and still raining, thick pea soup fog cannot even see using the Red LED Blaster more than 75 feet.

Hunted for two hours out by myself and saw loads of deer and called it a night.

On the way back home going 10 mph creeping through the intense fog and rain, the FLIR M-324 thermal picks up a sounder deep in the brush as I am rounding a corner. Turn off the engine and Red LED and snake out the HK556 with FLIR T-70 over the half windshield and put a 77 grain SMK in this boar hogs ear @ 100 yards, DRT as usual....

No way would any kind of NV been useful in these conditions, thermal worked like a charm!

NV Sux in the fog, thermal does not!

Another 130 pounds of some of the finest sausage this side of the Mississippi procured with HK MR556/FLIR T-70 with one shot @ 175 yards with some thermal pics from the FLIRONE and the Seek Thermal cameras.

Seek Thermal Black Hot:

Seek Thermal White Hot:

Seek Thermal dead hog on ground, 75*F, rainy mist, pea soup fog, 75 yards, White Hot:

As usual, real thermal images are better than compressed web views.

I get dozens of PM's about this all the time so I am putting this info here for future reference:

There is an update for the PS-32 that allows you to change the time out:

https://flir.app.box.com/s/s9hqyuesr945k0bjhqem

Download both, run and read the installation instructions, BE SURE TO ALLOW THE USB INSTALLER to run for a FULL 3-4 minutes before proceeding, it is slow and must be installed prior to trying to perform the upgrade, otherwise you will kill your PS-32.

Download both and install the tool first and follow instructions....you can set the timer to 5,000 seconds max.

It works on LS-64 too.

You have some options in the Cayman software installation, such as InstaAlert, Marine Red, Back Lights, Time of operation in seconds before auto shutdown.

Just click check the ones that you wish to install, ie click the BackLight box and it will turn it off.

The Cayman file is the update file. Select SW Update, then browse for the cayman file and install it. after you do that, open the configuration button and you will see it.

There are 2 files you need to download at the link. one is a .zip file and the other is the .dfu file.

Unzip the zip file and run Setup. let it load all the drivers, this takes some time.

Plug the cable into your Flir and PC and power it on

Click the SW Update button

Click Browse and find the Cayman file and click Install

Click Configuration button and you will see the boxes for the various options, including back lights off, check that box and install.

Five minutes into the hunt, 225 pound sow falls to the HK-ACOG-T-70 @ 175 yards, life is good!
