Chin strap goes under the chin. While it's another tool in the toolbox, this will not protect you from all threats

So whatā€™s the load out for kicking in doors at night in a quarantined L strain COVID-19 space? Serious question.

Things that one could f$5k up:

- Proper seal. Not shaving your beard, not getting the correct size, not performing a proper seal check prior to entering a hazardous environment.
- Proper filters. Different filters for different threats. Understand what filter ratings mean and how they apply to the exact scenario you're in.
- Filters are not reusable. One time in a hazardous enviroment and they're done. ZERO exceptions. At most, you'll get a day out of a solid filter.
- Proper "doffing" procedures and how there is absolutely zero room for error. AKA taking all the shit off while not contaminating yourself or your gear.
- Cleaning and completely decontaminating your PPE and other gear. Certain solutions are used for certain threats. Understand some threats require soaking time to kill and that some solutions can cause deterioration of PPE gear over time (or quickly, such as isopropyl alcohol).
- Plus many many more...

With that being said,

Check out these two masks:

AVON M50
MSA Millennium

These masks are used by many MIL/LEO professionals around the world and are considered some of the top choices available. While it may be tempting to get the half masks that Lucath and the bois are rolling with, but the M50 & Millennium are what real players use (yes, I know the half mask are effective against lead poisoning).

In closing, research, research, and research some more. There isn't just one place for information sadly and you really have to study to find what processes are effective as well as application of those processes with real world training. You'll quickly realize that there is a ton of bad information out there, plenty of bad information coming from the .gov regarding PPE as well. When faced with a very real threat and all you have is the greatest gear in the world but very little training, understand that it's not if you'll screw up, it's when, and it could kill you. CBRNE is some sketchy shit and it is not forgiving when you f*@k up.

Have fun!

Like someone else said, unless you have serious support, anything that would require more than a half mark is going to screw most civiā€™s. Thatā€™s just the sad truth.

Most will simply not have to equipment (money), training (money), and support to deal with it.

And after, like another person said, you need to be perfect when taking the stuff off and cleaning it.

Or what civi has enough great to just toss after it gets contaminated.

Germs, biometric warfare is serious, serious, shit. I, for one, think it should be done away with, utterly and completely. I know, naive libtard thinking but hey, no one is perfect

Zoomie,

Any particular reason you are using NOROTOS INVG MOUNT with the therm/pvs14 setup while running a wilcox with your binos?
Does the pivot-ability of the INVG help with leveling two dissimilar optics in front of your eyes? ...... or just something you had leftover from running a pvs14 solo??

Thank you.

Itā€™s a leftover.  Iā€™d much rather have another G24 Mount for the duals.  Canā€™t figure out if I want to keep the INVG or trade someone for the G24.

As far as the pivoting, there are detents.  So I couldnā€™t really fine-tune it if I needed to.  Luckily, I donā€™t.  The ocular lenses are level...or at least they look like they are to me.

Iā€™m wondering if the straps and face coverage from the mask would make wearing a helmet a non-starter.

COVID19 is droplet transferred not airborne so any droplet of fluid or saliva from an infected persons in your mouth, eyes, or open wound can infect. Because itā€™s droplet the any filter that can work with organic particulate will do. Full suit is not needed as long as you decon by changing clothes and shower without touching your face. Oh the wonderful training we have had at work.

Iā€™m not tactical in any nature but I image in an uncontrolled environment with infected mil/le would probably suit up?
