RGR that these helmets are light unlike a heavy ballistic helmet such as a ACH. Try lugging a ballistic helmet around with all the NVDs not much fun for the neck. I have a ACH with a shroud I can use if ballistic protection is needed. As long as I am not going to get shot at my bike helmet does just fine. Try wearing a skull crusher for a while it sucks. These setups are much more comfortable!

Just curious what communication systems are you using with these?  Mil or police applications?  Not sure what use a squad level FM radio would be for a civilian.

I ran a tri 152 for a few years, now looking at a 148. Its basically a micro HAM radio.

Started out as a Colt parts kit with a 14.5'' pinned M4 barrel. Chopped it to 10.5'', added a DD lite rail 10.0, geissele SSA, aimpoint pro, chopped carry handle, B5 sopmod, streamlight TLR1 and a Silencerco specwar k. I love it.

I was just wondering must be for work...I guess you could hunt hogs as a team with a COMMO system. Also want a SOCOM 7.62 suppressor for my AR 300 BO pistol, someone could ask me the same thing why do you need that , well cause I just do.. I would not mind having a MBTR for my own personal use. Just kinda hard to own with intergraded COMSEC module. Man some of you are better armed and equipped than our local sheriffs SWAT team. I'm thinking about forking over the money for a nice strobe for my helmet. I have a little one that goes on a 9v battery that I have had since OIF1. Has two little IR diodes on top. Did you have to modify the 5 pin input that most mil radios used for handsets for them to work.

And that's how it should be.

Agreed^^^ The TRI 152 you have to modify the PTT to get it to work with the comtacs, for the TRI 148 it works just fine. The radios get a bad rap because they are reproductions, but they are pretty much an Icom radio on steroids.

Ahhh that answers the question. I thought maybe it was to make them lighter and let more air in but couldn't believe it would be worth possibly being shot through one of the holes.

Thanks

I have a comms setup because we hunted in November out at a ranch. I was the driver and had three other guys on the gator, two hopped off and chased down a hog. My ANVIS mount all the sudden shit out and they got pretty far chasing the hog. Needless to say a radio would have solved our problems a lot faster. All our cells were dead or not carrying them.

Cheap baofang or whatever, and a modified PTT for my peltors makes it pretty sweet setup when you're the driver.

I bought a Crye Precision Airframe from TNVC not long after the Team Hitlery fiasco, and I finally got around to Peepteking it, as I planned.

Every time I think I am ready to pull the trigger on NODs and a helmet rig, I end up buying more ammo or some NFA item instead. Then I come back to this thread and kick myself in the shin. It's a vicious cycle

I went through some hard times in 2012 and had to sell my NODs and helmet mount. Thanks to some saving and the generosity of some friends I'll have new NODs and helmet mount Weds.

Now if I could just get some of the screaming deals on a high cut a couple folks have snagged.

Bout to have a few "special" OPS Core Carbons up in the next week or so.

Can you let me know what the special is?

Sent you a pm also, can you post some more photos about how you have the m1 and peltors mounted.

Will add a pic of my rig shortly.

Here is a side view. I can get some better photos later when I get out of work. I bought the quick detach Peltor adapters, so that is probably giving me a little more room to mount the M1.

A few years back I hit some hard times and sold my Nods. I instantly regretted it. My advise, look for other ways to generate cash. Thanks to hard work, saving and the generosity of a few friends, I am now back in the Nod game.

Although I do have a mitch, for training and basic messing around I use my Ops Core bump helmet. It's sporting a SOE ballast pouch with extra 3v lithiums and AAs as well as an MS2000 strobe. The SF M1 and Contour are riding on a Unity Tactical Knuckle. On the opposite site is a SF navigation and admin light. The ITT Gen 3 PVS 14 is attached via a Wilcox G24 and lanyard.

I hope to be getting an OPs Core Carbon once TNVC announces the special mentioned above. Since I do a lot of training without a helmet and only have one pair of decent earpro, I'm still using the stock headband.
